I would venture to say your feelings are normal, Im sure we all have had our negitive moments. I keep telling myself I will be much healthier if I lose 100 lbs. Its not a lie, Your joints wont hurt, your heart will work more efficiently. I try to keep my thoughts realistic and focused. I am having problems with my weight staying the same preop My date is Jan 14 , I am going nuts with food!!!!! Gee, if I could manage my weight without surgery Id be doing it??? My doc doessnt require any preop diet, he has been known to cancel if you gain weight pre op

Topic: RE: Approved for surgery before Christmas!
Maureen, The 18th was discussed, but I am not sure if that date is a set-in-stone date. Either way, we will be recouperating togther (long distance). I have browsed most of the boards, but I really need to make a decision and STICK with it, this time! Glad to meet you as well!

It is absolutely important! My doctor flat said if he gets inside and can see we haven't done the preop, he will back out and reschedule for when we had. You have to get yourself on liquids now! It's best for YOU! Chris

Pre-diet is VERY important. It helps to shrink the liver so the Doctor can lift the liver out of the way to get to the stomach easier.

Topic: anyone else getting pressured for surgery?
I have met mydoctor and therapist or my lap band to hopefully get approved, and ever doctor ad nurse that i hve met keeps pressuring me to get bybass surgery because you lose more weight than lap band. It is so annoying, and I am a mature adult who is able to ke up her mind. Am i the only one?

I so totally agree with you. if i could diet on my own I would not want to get the lap band. I am on a diet before I am even approved, how stupid is that. if i could lose weight on my own way would I need to lose weight. But, I think that it is neccessary to be on a liquid diet so that your gallbladder coul get smaller so the surgeon could perform easier.

Topic: RE: Surgery scheduled for 12/12/2007...hope I'm not pregnant
My surgery is scheduled for the 17th, so I just had my pre-admission testing done on Tuesday. I had to give a urine sample that day for a pregnancy test, and I was given a specimen cup to collect my first morning's urine on the day of surgery to be tested again for pregnancy. I mean, if you got pregnant the day before it wouldn't show up, but the chances of ovulating the day before sugery etc etc is probably pretty slim. Just make sure you use condoms, etc in the meantime. Good luck with you surgery!

My surgery is scheduled for next wednesday, and to be honest, I haven't satarted my pre-op diet yet. I know I am starting out wrong already, but if I was able to diet on my own, I wouldn't even need the band. How important is the diet?
