Tracy,
SO sorry to hear that you had complications. Your positive outlook makes you a hero in your own right!
I can't do protein shakes, I'm ordered to clear liquids for the first week. I can't wait to try my first one. I think it will taste like the creamiest thing I've ever eaten, lol
I hope your recovery continues to improve!! Your positive attitude is helping for sure.
Take care,
Kathy
Topic: RE: my surgery
Hi... You are so right... telling you it's normal to be nervous is sorta obvious!! I do know what you mean. Getting our heads out of worry and into greater peace is what we all want... I know for me, I have looked for that in the food. This surgery is such a great opportunity to have an effective tool to combat that drive. For me, I want to go to God with my search for peace and calmness. Food has worked, but it brings bad things along with it... it has been a cheap imitation of peace.
I am using this method: http://www.healfaster.com/ to help me. My sister is a nurse and she has been trained by the author, Peggy Huddleston, to do this with people.... So, she and I sat down and figured out lots of positive ways to keep my mind focused on healthy and uplifting things. I sit and relax to this visualization "tape" twice a day and it is really making a difference.
Melissa... I will pray that you find greater peace of mind and that your body and soul heal in the palm of God's hand. We are both trying to live in ways that will bring us healthier, longer lives. May it be so.
Blessings....
Wendy

Hey Everyone! You guys are my heroes!! I had my surgery on Tuesday and am still on pain meds! There were some complications with bleeding and so they had to go back in , my surgery lasted about 4 hours, the doctor said I would be pretty sore on my left side for atleast 2 weeks. I'm so glad everyone is doing so well. I cant wait to say I quit the pain meds!!! I still have to have help getting in and out of bed - its pretty frustrating.
Overall, I feel pretty good as long as I dont move the wrong way. Sitting upright in a chair and walking seem to help. Other peoples food hasnt bothered me at all either. Infact I dont seem to be able to smell it - which is a little weird.
Today is the first day I felt "a little" hungry - but a protein shake more than satisfied that.
Take Care
Tracy

Thanks Christine, This opens up some new things for me. Doc says 40-60gms, huh, that sounds easier then 60+gms. I also go an email that told me about protein bullets you can get from another support website. I have been using the fit and light yogurt and it has 0 sugars, it works good but I am VERY tired of the protein drinks and yogurt and protein powders. So I am looking for new ideas and recipes. But what you said is very helpful. Thanks!

Topic: RE: anyone else getting pressured for surgery?
Just from my surgeons information session, I made the same decision for the same reasons. I also factored in my age, which is 40. My surgeon also informed me when I did finally meet with him, that not all insurance plans are covering fills. I weighed all the options, and the amount of recovery, etc. and decided that RNY gastric bypass was the best option for me at this time. I had surgery this past Wednesday, and am doing very well.
I would recommend to anyone considering any of the surgeries to talk to as many people as possible who have had surgery of any type and get opinions and experiences.
