4 months out -any good exercise DVD's you suggest??
This coming Saturday, It'll be 4 months since surgery. I'm down 66 pounds since surgery and 100 pounds overall. I feel so much better, physically. I do however, hate the fact that I've lost so much hair. I feel like I'm hitting another stall. Have been very careful to stay away from useless carbs. I need to up the exercise. Does anyone know of any good DVD's (for beginners) for firming up the areas between the waist and the knees. Yes, I'm very pear shaped. Doing the treadmill, but want to work on the upper leg/thigh area. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
We sound very similar! I have lost 63lbs since surgery and almost 70lbs pre op... My weight loss has slowed WAY down... and I am losing TONS of hair! I just bought the ZUMBA dvds and can't wait for them to get here, because I definately need something more exciting than my exercycle and treadmill!!!!
Wow, thank you for replying. I was beginning to think I was the ONLY one here. Will search for the Zumba DVD's. Are they very difficult?
Today, I started another stall, it's so frustrating, I can't stop thinking I'm doing something wrong, although I know I'm doing everything right, just need to up the exercise. The treadmill does get very boring. I bought some resistance bands and am working on my upper body, especially the arms. My gosh, I am sooo weak in my arms, it's scary.
The hair loss has been very emotional as well. My hair is about shoulder length, but is getting thin in the front on my scalp. I'm trying to style it to cover up the skin.
I was so thrilled to see you live in Sacramento. We used to live there for many years too! We lived near the river by Chevy's. We've been here in Albuquerque for almost 3 years now. I do miss being close to family and the bay area. Living in the desert is quite different, but not nearly as hot as it gets there.
Haven't I seen you on the main board before? That's where I spend most of my time, except lately, it's gotten so nasty on there with people being so rude. Somehow in the past few months, it's gotten so negative instead of being the support site it was intended to be. But, that's just my opinion.
Thanks again for the suggestion of the Zumba tapes. I'll look for them. Kelly
Hi Kelly!
I live in Arden-Arcade... we were almost neighbors! I haven't gotten the ZUMBA series yet, so I don't know how hard it is... but I think it is supposed to start in a place where even someone out of shape and uncoordinated like me can do it... it looks fun, and hopefully it will help.
I do post on the main board sometimes. I really like comparing/talking to/sharing with people who had surgery the same time I did, it makes me feel more "normal" and better about everything!
Stalls are sooooooooooooooo frustrating. I seem to lose 5-7 lbs one week and then NOTHING for 4 or 5 weeks... I am also hoping increased exercise will help. I am also RAVENOUS all the time now, which I HATE. I am afraid at some point I will lose my will power and just start eating like a pig again, making poor food choices and eating too much... it is so scary.
But all in all I am thrilled with the surgery, the process, the results so far, and my dedication so far.... When I remember that in July of 2007 I weighed 347lbs and now I weigh 214-216 depending on the time of day, It is just PHENOMENAL.
I agree about the hair loss, it SUCKS. I keep hoping I am done, and then another handful comes out or the counter is covered with hairs!!!!
