While at the gym I ran into one of the trainers who I'm kind of friendly with. He said, "Wow you look great!" I said thanks... then we got to talking (Because I'm thinking of working out with a trainer) I then confided in him about my RNY. He looked at me strangely and said, "Oh, so you took the easy way out!" I was soooo pissed I just gave him a dirty look and walked away. What do you think an appropriate answer should be to JACKASSES like him???? I was especially shocked that he was in the fitness industry. Needless to say I WILL NOT be training with him!!!

OMG What an ass!!! Sorry you had to go through that. Why do people think that us making a choice to have our insides rearranged is EASY???? I mean we are the ones who will live with this for the rest of our lives ... what is EASY about that???? I probably would have made a comment about his lack of professionalism ... then told him that I thought he was an asshole as I walked out. Sorry chicky

I hate that. I have heard those remarks too. It really sucks. People just don't understand that it is not easy. We can easily stretch our pouches and not lose any weight. We had to make a drastic decision that changed us forever. We took a big risk to better ourselves. I really don't know what a good remark would be, but to some people it does seem easy. Only we know the truth. Don't let them get to you. Keep up the good work and ignore IGNORANCE!!!!!!!! Take care.

Easy way out???? Hell no...I don't think my lifestyle is EASY!!!! Anyone who says that should lead our life for 1 week and then we'll see if they think it's SO EASY!

People who would say things like that are just ignorant! I may be a little naive, because I haven't faced that comment, but if you get that one again, you might want to try to educate them a bit... Remind them that it was major surgery you went through and that even then it is only a 'tool' - we still need to make the right choices in what we put in our mouth! Good for you for working out in the gym and for considering getting a trainer!!

Fortunately no one has said this to me but when and if someone does this is what I plan on saying: The easy way would have been to not do anything and stay the way I was. It was not easy for me to decide to risk my life, to risk leaving my children without a mother and husband without a wife. What people do not understand is that while the weight does come off quickly for a while we still have to put a lot of work into making the surgery work. Eat what I do for a week and tell me how easy it is.

well said Easter. Your post put me in tears because it is so true. Especially thinking about all the risks we made in order to have a healthier life in the long-run. I feel sorry for ignorant people.
