Anyone frustrated with slow weight loss???
Hi Kim, I had surgery on 12/19/07 and have only lost 35lbs...... I'm doing everything the way I'm supposed to be doing except my water intake...... I'm having a tough time getting it all in. Thats my goal from now on...... Water....Water.... and more water. I'm hoping that will start the losing process again.
Take care,
Bobbie
I had surgery on Dec. 31, 2007. I did not do any dieting before surgery, as I was right on the line...bmi of 40. Since the surgery, I have only lost 27 lbs. The first 17 I lost in the first 2 weeks. My husband had surgery on the same day, and he has lost 55 lbs. I have been quite discouraged, too, and am afraid that I will not meet my goal weight...Walking, eating protein, etc.. How much have you other ladies lost in the first couple of months?
I'm happy to say I FINALLY ditched my plateau.... I was destitute just 10 days ago... and in the past week or so, I've lost 10 more lbs.... amazing how much better I feel now... I guess I should have had more faith in the surgery and in myself! Grand total post op = 47 lbs! Not as much as some, but not too shabby either! I am down a total of 116 lbs since September 9th... it feels good. Thanks for all of your excellent advice, support, and encouragement!
You guys are really doing better than you think. Try this on for size. I have only lost 8-9 lbs since my banding on 12/14/2007. I am so disgusted with myself right now I don't know what to do. I tended to only eat 1-2 meals at all, but then I was just so hungry all the time. I couldn't stop eating for the 1st fill, now that I have had my 2nd fill, I am finally having some restriction. (thank god) I am drinking my water and have absolutely given up drinking anything else. I was drinking a lot of Pink Lemonade but I guess that just too much sugar so water it is. Also I have started taking a multivitamin finally. I don't even know how to make a protein shake or what foods would be good sources for protein intake. But I am researching it. Also I do not exercise yet as I have horrible knees, a bad back and extremely high blood pressure. Hopefully the small steps I am taking since this 2nd fill will do the trick to help me with getting this tool jumpstarted. If anyone can think of any solutions that might help I am open to them.
Until then good luck to everyone and God Bless

Nycky,
I'd be frustrated as well!!! I think you are doing the right thing, to figure out how to increase your protein intake and eat the right foods... and with the lap band, isn't the weight loss much slower (yet, we all get to the same place in the end!)? Hang in there, girl! And I wish you luck and success.
I have trouble exercising, too, also have trouble walking due to arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc. I can only walk on the treadmill for 5-10min which is a HUGE improvement for me, and I do ride an exercise bike, but can also only ride that for a few minutes- it seems easier on my hips and knees than walking is.
Good luck to you!!!! You are NOT alone!
