I am 2 months out with having an RNY. I was wondering if anyone has a ball park figure of the caloric intake of what you should have a day at this point?

Becky, if you're not sure you should contact your doctors office to make sure. My doctor says no more than 200-400 calories a day if I recall correctly. I had my surgery Dec 18, 2007. Good luck! Angel

Are you sure that's not 1200-1400 calories a day?? If not, I am way OVER that...LOL

Me too... my NUT said not to count calories... just to eat protein first, don't eat and drink at the same time, no fried foods and nothing with sugar in the first 3 ingredients. I have strayed a few times with a bite here or there.... but I would say on average I eat about 500-700 cals per day. I am not sure how you do 200..... I am supposed to have at LEAST 60 grams of protein per day and each gram has 4 calories no matter what.... so that is 240 calories right there and that would be if all I had was straight liquid protein.

After my 5 week check up, I told the Dr. I was getting in about 400 calories a day. He said that was not enough calories. He never told me a calorie goal! Kristen

My doc says no calorie counting yet. Not until at least 6-8 months out. Just focus on fluid intake, vitamins, and protein. That being said, your best bet is to call your surgeon's office and see what his specific rules are.

This is something I was wondering myself and called my nutritionist and she said not to count calories just worry about protein! I actually started counting them for a couple days and I average about 500-600 a day but I work out for an hour 5 times a week and probably burn off 200 or so!

They told me the same about not counting. I get about 400-600 per day. I just can't eat anymore than that...I also walk about 4 miles a day.
