I had roux-y on 12/20/07. I am happy with my weight loss so far but I don't know what the weight-loss rate sould be. I have lost a total of 26 pounds so far. I feel it should maybe be more. I need help. Thuresa43

I know you said 12/20, but I had mine on 12/10. How are you doing? I am not losing what I thought I would. I struggle with what to eat and not to eat. I was a little unfortunate as I never had a chance to talk to anyone before my surgery so I am going at this blind. Are you eating regular food already?

I am doing just fine with mine. I have had two bad experiences with orange juice and raspberry yogurt. I am in my pureed phase now. I will be off of it on the 31st. I will start on solid food then. Sometimes I have a hard time with exercising. I some times wake up a little light headed. Taking the medicines is an adjustment because some of them don't taste the best. How much weight have you lost so far? I keep feeling like I am doing something wrong even through I feel better. I did have several friends that had the surgery and I have been planning to do this for sometime now (4 years). I have had some crackers to help me in the morning (about 2-3). I also mash up sardines in water and eat them about once a week. You should be in the solid food phase now. Just introduce one food every couple of days. Let me know how that helps.

Hi...I had the lapband that is different. THey say certain foods just dont agree with you. Look on the forum and look under the type of surgery you had and you will find people with the same surgery. You can relate much better to them....I can be your friend though!

I dont get it...you didnt have to do all this stuff so your insurance would approve it? He didnt make you do anything prior to surgery???? I dont believe that???? My email is [email protected] if you want to email me instead, may be easier

I had mine 12/18. I'm not eating "regular" food yet. I'm still on semi-soft foods like yogert, cottage cheese, lunch meat and some soft chicken like from soup. You might want to check with your doctor or dietitian to find out what and how much you should be having. Good Luck aph

I dont understand did they have you see a nutritionist? Everyone is different. Yes, you have to learn what to eat and not to eat. I think at the beginning till they give you fills and find the right spot you may feel that way. I started to feel that way after 3 wks and was like you, felt I could eat a truck and would feel ashamed after too that I ate too much. When I went to the dr I practically cried, told him I was doing well and now I was gaining etc. He gave me a fill, it takes up to 2 wks to feel. That was discouraging too, I am finally starting to feel it a little. Keep track of what you can eat or cite those examples to the doctor. When do you go back???? Just try and pick good things to eat in the meantime. Get a list of proteins, etc. High protein, low carb's.....I am the worst. If you can go to a nutritionist only if you go 1 or 2 times it is helpful. You didnt have to do this before surgery?

You mean you didnt talk to a nutritionist beforehand? I was doing ok till the last week. I am hungry and not feeling full, like I was before. I have cheated a little yesterday and today and I am pissed at myself. Yes, I have been on real foods since the 3rd week. I had a different kind of band that came out. You can eat solids 3rd week and last friday after 4 weeks I had a fill. They say it takes time to work, I dont want to wait!! What are you having trouble with???? How much did you lose and what are you eating? ARe you drinking with meals? Linda

I never had a chance to talk to anyone but the surgeon. It all happend really fast. My best example is I was able to eat a 6" subway sandwhich and in about 30 minutes I ate 1/3 of the second half. I wanted to cry! I felt so ashamed. I think my impression of the Lap Band was I would be able to eat like 3" of the sandwhich and be full for 3-4 hours. I feel embarrased when my co worker ask "How much this week", and I have to say nothing lost....I was able to start eating soft foods 2 weeks in and now I eat what I want. But I still don't know how to eat. I still don't know how to plan these high protein meals that the entire family can enjoy. And I am with you! I don't want to wait for the results either. I have been over weight (morbidly) for the past 8 almost 9 years! I don't drin****il about 30 minutes after the meal. That is hard for me to because I so thirsty when I eat...any advise?
