Hey all - I'm also a December 17th "baby" I have been a bit depressed - I have PMS, I also caught the flu from my little guy so I am unsure what exactly it is related to however I have been laying in bed a lot - sleeping during the day etc. I am hoping that it is just that flu although I am concerned I am blue from not having food to turn to. I am taking it with a grain of salt though and just trying to be gentle with myself. This was HUGE for me and giving up food (they way I knew it) is HUGE for me. I think it will take me some getting used to. I stalled also - at least a week, maybe more. I lost 1 lb today so I am hopeful I am going to start moving again. It is so reminiscent of my pre surgery diet days and I want those days behind me. I did have the trots before too but now I have had to take fiber and am using suppositories to get 'going' anyone else having that?

Hey everyone, I had lap RNY on the 28th, and I have had no complications and the pain is pretty much gone. I get my JP Drain out on Monday, but I think I will have to call the surgeons office tomorrow as it looks like no more fluid is coming out. I can not stand any more of the liquid diet, so tonight I got courageous and tried just a little pureed food with no problems. So, I might try some cream of wheat in the morning for breakfast. I do not know how much weight I have lost, since I do not own a scale. It will be a surprise.

Was your doc okay with "leaving" the liquid diet? Just be careful as the timelines are geared toward your pouch healing in the best way possible with very few complications. I absolutely agree with your feelings on the liquid diet ... it killed me. I was finally able to move on to full liquids yesterday (which I'm on for 2 weeks) but at least it brings more of a variety to my table I'm still having trouble getting all of my fluids in but I'm getting better every day. I'm now down 16lbs and have asked my husband to put the scale where I can't reach it LOL GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

Hi December newbies. I'm 18days post op. I just graduated to apple sauce today..oh joy! My cycle came on shortly after surgery so no scale changes. I had a revision from lap band to rny. I've lost about 15lbs to date. I feel like I'm losing inches more than anything right now. I posted to my blog on my profile about certain experiences that people don't really talk about. Read it and share if you'd like. I often think about people that have had rny and have had to get the lap band put on top of their rny stomach. I don't want that to be me. I was very emotional post op. I blogged about that as well. My since of smell and taste have changed. I'm finding it difficult to get my protein in and protein that tastes like something other than chalk and sand. My protein goal is 50grams a day right now. Some days I get it some days I don't. Well enough about me... let's get this show on the road!

Hi all! I am 4 days post op and boy do I understand the emotional issues! I have been in and out of crying and sadness! I am feeling a lot of nausea and I miss chewing food! The liquid diet is really hard for me right now! I am sleeping a lot, drink when I can and no potty fairy yet! My bowels still have not woke up from surgery I guess! ~ I lost 7 pounds finally this morning. Being bored I have been getting on the scale daily and frustrated with no weight loss. I know its the gas and water, but I was so happy to see the loss finally! Well that is my update. Best of luck to you all! Heather CP RNY 12/31/07

I missed chewing too and I finally started chewing ice chips. Helped me with my water too lol I'm having a tough time with my water still ... and I'm a week out. Now I just started on Full liquids and the protein is killing me now too. For me the only thing that helped with the gas pressure was using my exercise bike. I guess it was the leg motions lol And yes ... it was approved by my doc! Good luck!!
