Well, it has been about 2 weeks since my surgery, and I figured I'd take the time to check in with everybody and see how everyone is doing. I'm a bit of a mess this week. I hit a stall already, but I know that is to be expected. Even though I knew it could happen, I'm still having a hard time dealing with it. I wish my body would just realize that I'm doing what I'm supposed to and just catch up already!
As if a stall isn't bad enough, I've also become an emotional mess. I know its the anestesia still leaving my body, and the "hormone havoc" too, but I'm just not used to being this emotional....I HATE IT!!! I feel so needy and weepy all the time! IT SUCKS!!!
But, enough about me! How is everyone else doing? I know that all of us on this board are about 1-4 weeks out so I think this is a great place to exchange experiences and prepare each other for what to expect in the coming weeks. So SHARE SHARE SHARE...Let's all stick together and keep this board active.....let's lean on each other and support each other through this journey.
What's going on with you this week?
What are your thoughts, fears, blessings?
Have you hit a stall yet? How long did it last?
Are you a cry baby too? lol
Any other "side effects"?
Suggestions to keep this board alive and active?
Talk to me people................
I am a week out tomorrow and am having soooo much trouble getting my water in. Thankfully I move to full liquids tomorrow which should make it somewhat easier (thats what I'm telling myself anyway lol). I am down 13 pounds right now (yippee!!)
On to your questions
1) Whats going on this week - I am looking forward to more flavors of liquids lol
2) Thoughts, Fears, blessings - I am truly blessed to have come out of the surgery healthy with no complications. I have had a relatively easy recover (little pain but nothing extreme). I just keep reading to see whats coming next.
3) Hit a stall - too early for that yet
4) Cry Baby - immediately before the surgery YES ... so far after, not yet lol
5) Side Effects - hate the damn hiccup I get after I drink.

I am 8 days post op from lap rny and I am having the raging hormones and bad gas. I gained 5 pounds during surgery because of all the water and air they pump in you. Ive had the trots really bad but my surgeon said it was a good thing as long as kept hydrated.
I guess it means my pipes are working. There was only one juice I could not tolerate so far. I am really lucky because the pain for me was minimal. At home I used liquid tylenol and for the last 3 day nothing. I guess thats about it for now. Sunday I get to go on puree foods Yay!

I am on of the few people that didn't gain weight following surgery, at least not that I know of...lol...If I did, it was gone by the time I got home from the hospital the next day.
I know what you mean about the "trots". I got them about 3 days after I got home, and they stayed with me until I was able to tolerate more substantial foods. I think it just follows the idea of "Liquids In = Liquids Out". Thank goodness for the puree stage!
Do you dilute your fruit juice to 50/50 with water? I haven't had any juice yet, I've been trying to avoid the liquid calories as much as possible. But, I know my doc said I could have juice, but only if I dilute it to at least 50%
I'm one week today, and just had my JP drain removed a few hours ago. I'm ok. I'm down 20 pounds of probably all water. I'm done with the major gas, and my pipes seem to be working as they should. I somtimes feel a little sick to my stomach. I've had egg beaters for b-fast the past two mornings, and it's doing well. I'm not totally getting all of my water but pretty close.
That's about it. i haven't really had any emotional side effects. I'm going on a business trip starting sunday and lasting through the 18th, and eating worries me, but I'm bringing some stuff with me. My doc is not pleased about it, but it's training, so basically sitting in a chair and listening most of the day. It may be more relaxing than home, since there won't be kids, dogs, or husbands
Glad to hear that you're doing well. My "pipes" can't make up their mind just yet, but I'll be glad when they do...lol
Wow, you progressed to eggs pretty quickly compared to what I was allowed. I know what you mean about the water, it's tough to get it all in. My doc says that for the first month he's more concerned with me getting all my fluids in rather than trying to eat actual food, so the past couple of days I've worried less about food and more about liquid because I know I need more fluids. My skin and lips have been dry and I never really had that problem before.
As long as your not doing anything physically strenuous, your business trip shouldn't pose much of a problem. Be sure to let us know how it goes!
Best of Luck
