Help ! New pain after 3 weeks???

I am just over 3 weeks post op and in the last day I have experienced a new excrutiating burning pain. The pain is just about 1/2 inch to the left of the incision at my bellybutton. If I'm standing or laying flat it is fine, but pretty much any movement flares it up again and it kills - what could be causing this? Has anyone else had this? How long will it last? I was doing so good up until this, now I'm so disappointed an a little freaked out that it hurts this bad.

Oh no! Is it possibly a gas pain? This far out, I can't imagine what it would be.... you may want to call your surgeon to check. It may just be that it's not healed good enough yet...did you maybe bend down or sit more than usual or wear something tighter in that area? Good luck!

It also happened to me. I started to get worried, but it went away in a few days. They say its the muscles pulling themselves back in place. My PA warned me ahead of time this would happen so I wasnt surprised when I felt it. Call your doctor oif you are really worried.

I ended up going in to see the Dr and he determined it was actually an allergic reaction to the stitches. Told me to apply Cortizone Cream and WOW in less than 2 days I was feeling MUCH better! Thanks for responding.

Wow, this blew my mind when I saw it!. Look at my blog from last week, and youll see nearly the identical symptoms as you described here, and at the same 3 wks after surgery! I've also had a recurring red itchy rash on my stomach in the same area. It goes away after a hot shower ( at least feels better.) My surgeon has told me I may have aggravated the incision by overdiong exercise and hes put me in an abdominal brace to guard against a hernia. But after you mentioned an allergic reaction, I'm going to call him monday and send a link to your post for him to look at. Thanks for sharing!! John

Good Luck!! I hope your pain is as easy to resolve as mine was. Unfortunately my rash is still irritable but the pain is absolutely GONE! THANK GOD!! That pain was about as bad, if not worse than the pain right after surgery! I was sure I had a hernia or had torn a muscle or something... I would say if yours feels better after a hot shower, probably not a hernia... (I"m not a doctor, not even in the medical profession, but just a guess) - GOOD LUCK!
