Would love some advice on how to go about this process to obtain the surgery and handle the steps properly with my insurance group. So far have we have spoken to my personal care physician and he has applied for hubby to go first. I am sure there will be a denial so a appeal will be in order.

I have Blue Cross PPO and my surgeons office had me running around getting all the testing done, the results were faxed to insurance by surgeon and it was approved first time. I believe your BMI has to be over 40. Good Luck! Lori

Hi Brenda! I am a CA blue cross HMO'er! I had absolutely no problem with blue cross and would recommend them to everyone! I started the process on Nov 6th 2007 and my surgery date is Dec 31, 2007! Everything went smoothly. I would just recommend that you follow up with every step. Leaving the staff to "just remember you" does not work. I called and called until I was on a first name basis with the staff. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Good luck to you both! Heather C RNY, DEC 31 '07
