Hi all, Been reading the posts. I guess because I am getting closer to surgery (12/10), seems like all I see is folks with pretty seroius problems after surgery; ulcers, strictures, dumping syndrome. Is the usual path post-op so riddled with land-mines? If so, maybe I had better prepare myself and hubby for what is to come....

Hi, there... I don't think you're being a chicken! I think it's normal to have some apprehension when going for a major surgery like this - especially when it's something you are choosing to do... I'm having some of the same thoughts as my surgery date is 12/6. However, if you have confidence in your surgeon and keep the positive thoughts going, I think you'll do fine. You might want to check with your surgeon regarding his complication rate as that might ease your mind. From what I've learned along the way it's that if you follow your surgeon's "program" and keep a positive attitude, you have a much better chance of success!! Hang in there and I know you'll do well... ~Nancy~
