Dawn.. Dawn... Help me out here... How is 1400 calories or even 1500 calories a bad thing especially with all the movement you did?
Your resting metabolic rate can be "roughly" figured by taking your weight x10. That is how many calories your body needs to just SURVIVE... not including activity. You can actually (supposedly) eat more than this and still maintain.
My RMR is 1680... I know without a doubt I can eat up to 2200 cals and maintain if I am getting my protein in and not eating simple carbs... sooooooo explain!!!
I think you did rock on stellar. You wouldn't wanna know my bad days........... :(

Topic: RE: Kids lunches, need some ideas, and a new motivation
Hi Amy! Have you already checked into the many (many!) Bento sites? A good place to start is www.obentec.com (doing this from memory here...hope it works) They make the Laptop Lunchbox system and even if you don't want to use their product (can be pricey) the idea is brilliant and their photo galleries are mostly geared towards children's lunches and not the fancy bento artwork food for people too much creativity. While you pick up ideas for your kids' lunches you'll have an easier time imagining good things for you and your hubs too.
Until my hours at work were cut I was making bento breakfasts and lunches and then posting them on my little blog. Pretty much all I take lately is just breakfast so why bother...how many times can you photograph the same thing???
A concept of making Bento that might help you is to do some freezer stocking. Most of the foods are pretty down-sized like little meat patties, roll-ups (tortilla or sushi style, whatever), small cuts of veggies and fruits. Since I love raw edamame I often threw some of that in my lunch too. The goal is always to have five different (dang, my coffee hasn't kicked in yet I hope that is the right info) colors in your lunch. That can be difficult but it gets you automatically chosing good foods because you are forced to select things from many groups. Veggies, proteins, carbs, fruits, nuts...
Sorry to be so rambly and long-winded (did you remember that about me? LOL). You have a fun and maybe sometimes frustrating challenge ahead of you but I know from you post you'll be very successful.
So after all that, here's some of my fav's:
frozen mini waffles (I got a cool mini waffler on amazon and LOVE it)
grilled poultry cut into strips and served with a low-fat or fat free dip
mini muffins
fresh blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, canteloupe, grapes
cucumbers, edamame
vegetarian patties: chik'n, mini corn dogs, black bean patties, etc
meat-crust pizza
yogurt (greek!)
mini quiches
cheese sticks
hard boiled eggs
home-made turkey breakfast sausage patties or 'links'
If you can stand the tedium, visit my blog and look at some of the old posts for photos

LOL! This is what I get for not being around here much anymore. And it is so stinkin true!!!
pretty much my current strategy this summer has been to stuff my face any and all times I'm home. A nibble here, a tiny handful of something else there.... So a new strategy has got to be to set a plan in place.
And I gotta plan...my hours have been drastically cut at work and I'll be here in the danger zone 'aka home' a lot more. One good thing I did this summer (but it hasn't really started yet) was to co-join a local gym with another support group member. We are going to be taking water aerobics classes from yet another one of our members who is currently VERY PG and VERY BOSSY.
However, the club is experiencing some problems and one thing or another the pool is closed and I haven't made it over to the place they are renting for a substitute. I promise it will happen and then I think it will be easier to let other smart things fall in place behind the extra exercise.
Smart things like Actually Planning My Daily Intake. That's a good goal, doncha think?
Hugs and sorry I've been so MIA!

You are rocking it girlie!
I have been suckered into fair foods and my weight is very high for me right now. Hoping to be rid of some of this before wed weign in as I am embarassed! I have not gotten back on track like I vowed I would do and I feel really emabrassed to admit that to you... so sorry :( It has been horrible eating for me lately - a lot of stress with my dad and work and also support grp. I think a lot of it is going uphill tho now (I hope!) and so I am trying my damndest to drastically change my ways starting today b/c I got on the scale and I coulda crapped. It wasn't good. I am over 140 now and I was near this preop Plastics.. almost 10 lbs gain since lowest after plastics... sad.
Have a good weekend, stay focused. You are doing incredible and u seirously have me going "what is wrong with me!" I am not sure where I lost my drive the past few months but I truly need to get it together. I still get carb comas badly (thankfully) and dump occasionally but not like I used to and that is prob why I give in to sugar more and more... I forget too easiy how bad it "can" make me feel and just subject myself to it over and over lately... well the scale is now telling me who the fool is.. (ME!)
I gotta pull it together. OK enough venting! I gotta quit talking and take ACTION.
I know the weekends are the hardest so keep up the good work and stay busy doing other things, I know u can do it Dawn. Way to go!!!

I think the scale should be moving in leaps and bounds for you as controlled as you have been.. if it isn't the only answer is you aren't eating enough (stll concerned :P sorry)
Have fun at the Junas Bros. concert tonight!!!
We have been on the go all week (so much for enjoying and relaxing at our lake house retreat of the inlaws!!) and my eats at the iowa state fair yesterday - well pathetic. I won't go on.
I bet being a mom puts an added stress on eating choices... I can only imagine.
Hang in there, you are doing great, I bet wed will be a great weigh-in day for you.
I have not had my scale at the lake with me all week, not a good thing I am thinkin!
Hugs,
Melissa
