Did we survive?

Well, Christmas is over...how did we all do?  I know I definitely indulged, a little chocolate, a few crackers, a little fudge, pie, wine.  All the little bits I can handle, I did.  Of course, then I feel icky for a few hours.

I was also off last week...and wish I had another week off.  Why is it that we always need a vacation from our vacation?

Got to work today and feel much better.  Taking my vits (of which I kinda slacked on all week), had my protein shake this am and have only eaten on little chocolate bell.  I bought some NSA fudgcicles and cottage cheese and made taco soup so I am rady to get back on the wagon.

Funny, though, as crappy as I have eaten all week, I seem to have dropped a couple pounds.  I know why.  I stopped buying/eating rice cakes with PB.  The rice cakes aren't bad but the PB was adding so much in terms of calories and fat my loss had stopped.

I also had a virus for a few days and it sounds weird but my pouch has been extremely sensitive since.  I have had to eat soft foods for the most part and the easy foods like crackers (or chocolate ;-)  )  For a while things were just sitting like rocks whenever I ate my "normal" meals and a time or two I just hurt like I did early out when I ate too much or did not chew well.  So I have had to slow it down and really pay attention again.  That virus seems to have been a blessing in desguise!

Hope all is well with everyone.  The board has been like a ghost town!

Short answer...barely.  I have had a very rough month and fallen back into sone very old and bad coping habits, eating, eating allot and eating crap.  Just before Thanksgiving I hit a major downhill slide when we found out we were most likely going to lose the baby.  Then that weekend my tube burst, lost the baby and one of my fallopian tubes.  Allhave I done since then is eat and mostly chocolate and other candies/carbs.

I have gotten some new protein shakes and am going to get back on track, but right now I am not mentally ready.  I have gone on some antidepressants to help and once they kick in I hope to do my pre-op diet to detox.

Hope ya'll did better than me

I'm sorry you are going through all this.  I can empathize, it truely is one of the most difficult life-experiences to endure when you lose a pregnancy.

You do whatever you need to do to morn.  I can say, and it does sound cliche, it does get easier with time.  ((((((hugs)))))))

Amy, there is never a good time of year for what you went through but how sad that you have had to deal with it now especially.  Maybe once the New Year is here and all that the media can talk about is health and fitness again then it will be easier for all of us to grab that lifeline and hang on to get ourselves back on track with healthier eating and healthier habits.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost a fallopian tube, too...that is a double blow.  I hope that when you get back to trying, if you do, that remaining tube will step up and get the job done for you.

Hugs,
Molly

Thanks for a new post:)
I have went back to A LOT of my OLD BAD habits. I have eaten more crap in the last month then I think I have in the whole 2 years combined. I sooo need to get back on track and each day I wake up and say this is the day and I eat something. I am so ready for NY's to be over as that is the last  "party" we have for a while..(I hope).
I did drink a protein shake this morning..adn then followed it with a cookie..

I think we can all understand where you are coming from.

Stupid Christmas butter cookies (ya' know, the ones in the tin?!), stupid homemade fudge, and pretzels dipped in white chocolate!

My only saving grace was that virus I got a couple weeks ago, or I think I would be putting on the pounds.   After my post yesterday and I go home and comfy in my sweats I indulged in those stupid butter cookies a time or two.  No one else in the house is eating them so why am I?

I am taking them out with the trash tonight!

And then...there is New Years!  I have no parties or plans...I do have a 4 YO at home and 2 teens so I will spend mine at home with kids...but after my youngest is in bed  I may have a glass or two of wine.

..."I did drink a protein shake this morning..adn then followed it with a cookie.."

Oh my gosh, thank you for being so human and so wonderful to post that.  First, it was lovely to laugh this morning and second...a hug for you since I thought I was the only person out here who did stuff like that.

Hope you have a fun party for NY and then feel ready for getting back on track.   I have a turkey thawing in the fridge and am going to cook it up so I have lots and lots of protein to eat starting on the 1st.  Gonna try hard to de-carb!

Hi Elaine, hi everybody!  Sorry to hear you had a virus and hope that your pouchie will settle down soon.  Have you ever been able to try the PB2 peanut butter?  Might be something to consider to keep your routine but shave some fat calories from the deliciousness.  We now have it at our local military commissary...I was so thrilled to see it that I got four jars the first time just in case it was a fluke.

Christmas was fun but stressful and I didn't eat well, either.  Did finally give in and made some sugar-free cookies and sf fudge which of course, I overate.  ...sigh....  And most all of us above the Maxon-Dixon line have had bad weather lately and the stress from that has been a bad factor to add to the holidays.  (the grocery store 2 blocks away just collapsed from snow load last night)  I stayed home from work today from pure fear of the roads.  My normal 20-30 minute commute took 1 1/2 hrs. yesterday and I was so relieved to be home that I actually threw my hands up in the air and shouted.  The sun is shining and hopefully the roads are thawing a bit before the next storm hits sometime tonight.  I can't miss work tomorrow.

TOM today too, I think I may skip weigh-in tomorrow.  I just feel that I'm way up from last week and am rather pouty overall.   The pity-party won't last long, I promise.  Very much looking forward to catching the New Year's Fitness Frenzy that always grips the country, it is a welcome change from the over-indulgence messages of the holidays.

If the weather will give us a break this month, our local support group is supposed to split into two groups and that is an exciting prospect...sure hope the meeting(s) won't get cancelled due to weather like the last one.

Betcha nobody in Spokane next year will be singing 'I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas'.  We're sick of the white stuff!

Molly

Ya know...I do have a jar of PB2!  When I first bought it I tried it, liked it and used it a few times in my protein shake.  Don't know why I just put it away and forgot about it!  Of course, now I have gotten over my craving and could care less about PB at all, even the thought of it just makes say "Yuck".  It is also rather expensive and with three kids in my house I can't see spending that much on PB.  Not to mention...they did not like it.
