SUGAR FREE LINGONBERRY SYRUP!  (and jam!)

This is a Mom-and-Pop operation here in the Pacific Northwest that I found on the internet and took a chance ordering....wow, great service, great products!

And ethical...wow!  My shipping charges came to less than their standard since I am closer and with my order they included a check for the difference.  How many businesses would take the time to issue a $2 refund?  Not many!

So, before my sister arrives today and we begin our two days of painting I am loving, loving, loving my cottage cheese waffle with sugar free Lingonberry syrup and eggbeaters breakfast. 

Oh heaven! 

lingoberry? never heard of it,....

When I was a kid we'd be able to get Lingonberry syrup on our fancy pancakes when we'd go out for breakfast to a chain-type pancake house.  It was such a treat!  Lately, I've been able to find jarred lingonberries in most grocery stores and also at Worldmarket but not sugar free. 

They are a little berry that is like a cranberry...tart but not as sour or large as a cranberry.  They grow best in northern placees like Sweden so you don't see it in many other cuisiines but now they are growing it here in my part of the world.

If you have an Ikea near you, they may offer it there in their restaurant and maybe in their grocery area.  I've never been to one, but I hear they have food there anyway.

Bah, none of the sites I found tell me what they taste like!

So?

They are tart and similar to a cranberry but with more natural sugars so they aren't as sour as a cranberry.,  Very high in vitamins too!  Hey, if it has kept Swedes healthy so long they can't be bad. 

I've never been to one, but I have heard that Ikea sells it there in their restaurant and food areas.  ?

All I know is I'm happy, happy now!  And a little worried because now I'm craving a piece of whole wheat toast to put the jam on...uh-oh!  Time to get out the rice cakes!

Have to get back to painting today so you won't see much of me till the job gets done.  So glad to see some progress in the house again.  DH and I are just so burned out on DIY stuff that it takes having help like my sister to get us off our butts again. 

It is POURING rain here today.  I should put a soup in the crockpot before the painting starts.  Maybe Diana's Black Bean soup, that is delish!

I made beef stew in the crock pot, Thursday, since I was home sick with a migraine.

I love cranberries, so I'll have to try the Lingonberries.  I heard about them being used in Sweden for centuries too, when i was doing all my reading.  They just forgot to mention what the hell they tasted like! LOL
