Now this is the kind of holiday I can get behind!    So glad I checked my e-mail today before heading out to Home Depot to blow some serious cash on a new kitchen door.  When I get home I think there will be an addition to my day's baking roster. Mmmmm...my mouth is watering for pumpkin cheesecake already!   If you aren't already signed up for the Hungry Girl daily e-mails, do yourself a fun favour and do it!   Here's today's recipe:

Thanks for this!  A neighbor gave me some springform pans not to long ago and I have been looking for a reason (and a decent recipe) to make a cheesecake!

Cheesecake Addict Here...

I like to eat them a few days after they are baked... just taste better to me.  Kind of like "aging" of some foods, if you know what I mean.

Mmmm....I know exactly what you mean.  My mom always referred to it as letting the flavours 'meld'.

With my car trouble today my plans all got ruined (as well as a batch of cookies!) so even with all that managed to get done I am still behind and never did get the cheesecake baked.  Waaaa!  I even got yelled at tonight by one of the old biddies from the rose society.  Sheesh, if i turn into a cranky old b*tch like that when I'm old you all have permission to kick my walker out from under me and laugh as I fall.

Just kidding....

DH is driving me to work tomorrow and then picking me up on base in his big heavy equipment truck.  It will be the first time I've ever gotten to ride along with him on the job.  Wish me luck, folks.  The part needed for my car won't be in town till Thursday sometime so it is going to be dicey getting to all these potlucks, etc. till it is fixed.

Night

Meld... that's the word!  Soups and stews... and lasagna... seem to all taste better to me after they have had some time to meld.

Waaaa... I hoped to hear how it turned out... Let me know!

YOU got yelled at?   She must be a Cranky B!

Hope that your week gets back on track and make it to the potlucks.  Enjoy your RIDE...

Ooooh...my catty side came out at that meeting, did i tell you?    I went in all cheerful and ignored her for awhile when she entered then when I greeted her it was all nice and drippy sweet.  She was very cool and then dismissive so I just smiled more and walked away.  Was my usual cheerful self with everyone else...didn't let her ruin my fun evening!  Leaving I hugged and bye-bye'd folks and didn't say boo to her.  Felt good, I'm ashamed to say!

The car part was an mass air flow sensor and $$$.  DH put it in as well as a bunch of other maintenance stuff...new sparkplug wires and junk.  What do I know...  My good old baby is running again just like before.  I sure missed her!

Making that cheesecake tonight.  Last night I made a sf pumpkin pie for the family and they snarfed it down right away.  You'd think it was going to be the last pie they'd ever get the chance to eat.  Made me laugh!

Cold and gray here today, I have been drinking tons of coffee and tea...a stew sounds yummy for dinner.  Hmm...

You are RIGHT...that had to be it: first pumpkin pie of the season.  I got the heck out of their way when I finally announced it had cooled enough and they could eat or else I thought I might get hurt.  Oh!  And DS was so funny when it was baking...he came in from outside and said, "Look what *I* found!!!"  Holding up a box of nsa vanilla ice cream with a smile on his face.  When I told him he needed to get out the cool whip instead because the ice cream was being saved for apple pie he RACED out of the kitchen to the freezer.

I'd better remember to wear jogging shoes when the first apple pie comes out of my oven!

Whoa...your kitchen smells were tantalizing to me and I wasn't even in the vicinity.  I think I could lose a couple of pounds just salivating over all that goodness.  NUM!!!

SIL's menu tonight is chicken w/dumplings (their family style which means really gooey, doughy 'dumps' topped with a cube of melted butter.  I think I'll eat before i go!  I'm all for fall soups and such but that is a menu without much possibility except for broth and chicken pieces fished out through the grease.  Ick...I so do not want to dump in front of my in-laws!  I am bringing a salad for our contribution to the meal.  It is gonna be clean, clean, clean!

Thanks for the Foodie Complement!

Knew It... I would have been there with a fork and plate too... for the First Pie... I think that it is an actual Syndrome.  Better check WebMd!   Mols, Save me some Apple Pie!

Little Blip Story...   I baked two apple pies many moons ago, but the Guys only saw me working on the first pie.  Our #2 son missed the pie pig-out, as he was sleeping.  He was amazed and confused when he saw a slice of pie on one plate and a full pie nearby.  At 14, his comment was, "Ro, How did you do that?"  Then the look of DUH... 2 pie**** him... and he couldn't stop laughing.  I helped a little by showing him the empty Pyrex in the sink!  Lots of Laughs that day!

Remember recently, when I couldn't find a "SAFE" purchase at a newly opened specialty market that I had longed to visit.  Too Sweet... Too Many Sat Fats... etc.   What Frustration!   WE are so affected by food choices now!  We have to be... Others just don't get it.   They consider their comfort foods to be a "treat" for us.  Clean is the way to go!!!  Withya Sista!!!

OK... SIL might be into Sabotage also...

"OK... SIL might be into Sabotage also..."

So funny you should mention that....

I was going to type out something about that but I just erased it considering this is a public mb.
