Oh, Molly... Sorry to hear that the beef gave you pain!  Chicken and ham need to be really tender for me; beef has been easier.  Funny how we are all different!

I do love my faux Le Creuset!  My other favs are my emulsion stick blender (lite sauces), electric frying pan (great pancakes) , crock pot, waffle iron, and wrought iron griddle.  The Dutch Oven is my current WOW!   Since pressure cookers don't add much to the taste; more to softness, I'll save the $$$$ and keep with what I already have home.

I ate the stuffed clams with a little Blue Bonnet for lunch.  Since I had a "delayed" day, I took a late shower and weighed myself.  Molly, I hit my lowest weight... 128 #... with only 2 days before my Nutritionist appointment.  Last week, I spoke with him and I weighed 130.5... eating an average well over 1900 calories!

The 128 # is a bummer for me as I've eaten throughout the day and night to reach a high of 134.5; up and down over the last 6 months.  DH took my for a DQ... 490 calories... no dumping.  I'm not sure that the Nutritionist will think that ice cream is a good choice.  I felt pretty guilty too.  The other day I went to a newly opened market that has wonderful selections for so many foods.  I told DH that I was overwhelmed by all of the food.  Ultimately, I did buy a few items... what a wasted trip!  Each food seemed to have a reason not to eat it... too fatty... too processed... too much saturated fats.  I eat a wide range of foods, but feel that my home cooked meals are much healthier.  I loved the Honey Crisp apples ($1.29 / Lb) and all of the other veggies and fruits that I ate instead of going to the "DARK SIDE" with Lord Cheetos!

Last winter, I met a breast cancer survivor, who is 65 and still going strong!  The Ultimate Home Cook!!!  She is my inspiration, as she  keeps her diet full of variety and nutrients!  Not bad for someone, who Drs told that she'd have about 6 - 9 month.... that was over 6 years ago.  She told them that she had too much to do.  One thing that she does that I don't is walk.  I mean miles everyday!  I need to WALK to prevent Osteoporosis, but that will mean MORE EATING!  I never thought that that I'd complain about having to gain weight!  LOL

Love Birds... had to give up my sanctuary after repeated Bear visits!  Darn Bears are Silent and Huge... not a good combo for a lounge on the patio!  I stick to the deck now, if I'm alone.

Hi!
Sorry I haven't checked in...had two batches of company yesterday after a loooonng day at work.  Whew!!!   Guess who one was?  The developer of the new NBA '09 Nintendo/Wii game that was just released today.  He is a friend of my sister and she brought him over to meet my son and boy, did he impress Sam!

Sorry to hear you are still struggling to keep the weight on, wish I could share some of my excess with you.  I had a freak-out over the weekend...gained up to 146.  I know what it was too, too much eating and not nearly enough water.  For some reason, I am just a terrible water drinker on the weekends.  Gotta get this problem under control!

I feel like you when faced with a lot of food choices out and about...there seems to always be something 'wrong' with what seems to be a yummy thing.  Guess we are just pickier and smarter food consumers now and you are so right about foods that we cook ourselves at home being healthier and tastier.

Love the appliance talk, it is a slight obsession for me and a bad thing to be working retail as I see all the newest things that come out and want, want, want.    (Hence my new crockpot!)  I currently have 6 crockpots in graduating sizes.

"Hi, my name is Molly and I'm a small appliance junkie."

Is there a twelve-step program for that?    My husband would drive me to the meetings.

Oh, I have a new favourite ice cream:  NSA Blue Bunny 'Bunny Tracks'.  Delish AND it makes me sick at around 1/3 cup!  Woohoo!!!  I think it is the only kind I'll buy from now on, it will make my tongue happy and help me control my spoon.

Guess what I found at the commissary today?  Hershey's SUGAR FREE chocolate chips!  Without even tasting them I bought five bags.  Sure hope they are good!  Over the weekend I'll make a batch of Heather's oatmeal cookies and give them a try and let you know.
