Ok everybody.  I have not been communicating on here like I should be, however I was working way more than I should have been and am now paying for it (not that that should be an excuse).

Anyway, I was getting ready for a surgery bent down to get some instruments and when I got up there was a pop in my back.  It didn't hurt, just a quick little thing.  That afternoon I started to have quite a bit of pain.  I went to pysical therapy thinking maybe it was just muscular and they could get it to stop.  I was wrong.  I went to the chiropracter after that, things got worse.  I then went to a spine specialist who did an MRI.  They found a free fragment at T11-12 and tears in L 4-5- and S1.  He then sent me to a neuro surgeon.  The surgeon checked everything out and was concerned about my reflexes, so I got to have another MRI to check my brain, cervical, and thoracic  areas of my body.  He found a disc herniation at T 4-5.  Great.  So he told me to go to therapy and go get a series of thre epidural shots.  He also was sending me to a neurologist to make sure that I don't have MS beings that my body is acting like it does.

I got my first epidurl Tuesday.  Took four tries.  I have arthritis in my back and am constant spasm.

That is it for now.  The epidural is not taking the pain away but maybe after the next one it will be good.

Hope you are all doing well!
Maghan

Wow, I would say that you have a very good excuse for not being here.
This sounds very painful and so sorry that you have to go through this.  The shots will help with the pain, but what about fixing it?  How will this be done?  I would hate to think of this as permanent for you?

As of right now the shots are not doing anything.  They put me on a muscle stimulator Thursday which helped with some pain, but as soon as I took it off the pain all came back.  If the next 2 shots do not work I will have to have back surgery.  Butt up in the air!  Icky.  They will take out the discs that are pushing on my nerves and that will be it.  I really don't want to do that so I am hoping that soon the shot will kick in.

Maghan, I have read several of your posts over the months and never really understood just how much stress and strain is in your life.  I don't really understand all of the medical lingo, but this sounds pretty serious and I do wish you relief SOON.  It would be great to avoid surgery too!
Best wishes for best results and freedom from pain for you...

Oh Maghan doll...I'm so sorry to hear you have been in pain.  Thank goodness you are at such a healthy weight now, can you just imagine how much more horrible this would be at your highest weight?  That is pretty small consolation, sorry.

I'll add you to my prayers and hope you will be healing well and get relief soon.

Gentle hugs!

Molly
