Lap band fills
Anyone having a second fill, I would love to hear how it goes. I'm scheduled for my second fill Sep. 16, 08. The first fill, Jun 08 did nothing and I'm hoping for greater success w/ number 2. They put 1 1/2 cc of saline the frist time. Any experience with how much they do the second time?
Looking forward to hearing wonderful news.

Hi, Lynnell... At our last Support Group meeting, which was a combo group of all type WLS, the women who had lap bands discussed that the 2nd fill was much more substantial than the first fill. The program's coordinator held the meeting, as we are in a state of change... new leaders! She mentioned that surgeons take into account that you are getting used to the Band at the first fill... and the second fill is then increased to the next level. It seemed that everyone agreed at the meeting so you'll probably be very happy with the results.
The group had several questions about just when they would need refills... Would they know all by themselves??? The answer... Basically, the coordinator said, "Keep your appointments... The surgeon will figure it out for you so that you keep LOSING! He'll help take the guess work out of it... Your job is to follow his guidelines and enjoy the results!"
Sounds like all good news!!!

Hi Lynnell! Welcome...we are happy to have another smiling face around here. Sorry I can't answer any of your questions, I'm a revision to RNY from VBG but I will cheer for you. My surgeon's practice is just starting its bandings program so it will be exciting seeing even more new faces at support group and watching more people successfully improve their health.
Loved your Heidelberg picture! We visited there a few times when DH was stationed at Sembach AB. Of course, I was much heavier and didn't have the energy to climb around that I'd have if we got to visit there now. Maybe someday when the kids are all grown.
Best of luck to you when you get your next fill, be sure to hang out here with us whenever you can so we can share in your progress or kick a little fanny if you need it. (And you can help kick a little fanny around here for the rest of us when we need it too!)

Molly,
Thanks so much for the support. It's nice to know you are all still out there. I got pretty busy moving to DC from Germany, became a grandma and haven't taken alot of ME time. I'm back now and will keep you all posted on my "Transplanted" success. I got the band in Italy so the DC docs got to see what the other side of the world is doing.
I am also familiar w/Sembach as I lived in Kaiserslautern for some time too. The whole place is beautiful and wonderful. But I am glad to be in the land where I can read all the street signs!!!!
You keep up the great work on yourself and I'll meet you all the way!!!!
Kind regards,
Lynnell

Just a thought... some past posts might have part of the answer that your looking for so here's a link to scan through for info from other OH members, who discussed second band fills...

BTW, at last months support group meeting, it was discussed that our hospital was currently performing more Bands than RnYs. It might be because there has been an insurance shift, but the exact reason was not noted.
Months ago I heard a rumor about a company that planned to offer quick fills for Band clients. Have you heard anything about this?
Let us know what the difference in eating is after your fill-up.

Seems were all tracking on the same "Feelings". I've not heard about the company doing "Quick Fills"....what could that mean, I wonder. My first fill was in/out in 20 minutes and we chatted most of that. What I did discover is my insurance doesn't cover the fills becasue they show up as simple office visits.....Well, mox nix, I'm a much happier ONEderland girl and looking forward to more releif on them ol knee's.
You take care, enjoy this wonderful day and I'll be in touch next week after my Sep 16 DANCE WITH PHIL (FILL)

ONEderland Congrats!!!!
Here's the link to the "Quick Fills"... http://www.fillcentersusa.com/
I haven't checked them out, but thought that you'd like their info... You might want to search the company name + the word "complaints" (or similar word to find out what other people have to say about them). What do you think??? Any good???
Could you have the office include the code(s) on their billing that shows that you had a "fill" rather than just a visit? Perhaps you can have the office resubmit your first claim... and inquire what codes are needed for included payment. I would think that the fills would be covered if the codes were listed. Worth the time and $$$...
