In search of a support group

Does anyone know of a support group in the Galveston area? I am almost 2 years out and would like to find one.

Thanks for the welcome! I appreciate it! I am 35 years old and live in Texas near Galveston. I had my surgery on December11, 2006. To date I have lost over 200 pounds. I am still losing, but I am finding myself falling into some of my old habits. Eating when I am down or sad. I am trying to find a support group in my area. Wish me luck in finding one.

Good Luck in finding a support group. I can't find one in my area either. I even tryed to get a group of people together (there are plenty of WLS patients in my area) but only one showed up. LOL Anyway welcome to our board. Mini Me

Same problem here! Driving 45 minutes for a "topic" meeting one time per month isn't cutting it. Going to a closer group that used a different surgeon makes me feel like an "outsider". There's got to be a better way!

I completely understand your frustration. Especially with gas prices also, something closer would definitely be ideal. I have talked with a couple others that live in the Galveston area and they have mentioned starting a group here. I think that would be a great idea. I feel like an outsider perod. This surgery has definitely changed my life and I am looking for some support.

I am a bit nervous that OUR board will twindle away, if WE don't share a laugh or 2 along with what's a pain in the butt since WLS. Glad that you want to join us. Keep in touch! Ro
