Thursday Accountability
Hi! Hope you have had a great day with good eating, exercise, vitamins and water. I've done better than most days lately and want to get it posted and plan for dinner. Here goes:
exercise: 8 hrs at work...lots of lifting, speed walking, stairs, ladders, pushing, pulling...etc
water: at 10 cups so far
vits: one to go but everything else done
1) frosty protein shake
--lf, sf latte
2) 2 homemade banana oat bran muffins
3) 1 cup watermelon chunks, 1 low carb tortilla "blt" (2 sl. turkey bacon, tomato, lettuce, 1 oz. ff cream cheese)
4) 2 cups watermelon chunks
5) 2 sf fudgesicles (not the best choice)
planned dinner: last Oprah turkey patty, more watermelon
calories: 907
carbs: 128
fat: 23
prot: 64
fiber: 36
sat fat: 5
Realistically, I'll probably eat more than that. I'm guessing a lf mozz stick or something else for more protein so I know the numbers will be higher. But still, this is a vast improvement over my recent eating. Woohoo!!! I'm using the watermelon as a sweets-crutch but so be it. Gotta find a way to get away from starchy carbs but the sweet tooth is still firmly grabbing my rear.

Hi, just checking in quickly to update some family on our local fire situation. My in-laws have been evacuated but will no doubt be just fine. Anyway, here is a cut-and-paste from Oprah's website with the recipe info. BTW...the changes I made to the recipe were that I only had 3 1/2# of ground turkey and had to substitute dried chipotle chili powder for the tabasco sauce. I used just one teaspoon...it's pretty hot stuff and I'm a wimp. Also it didn't smell onion-y enough so I added 2 tab. finely minced onions I had leftover from another recipe.
"Oprah found a new favorite food when she tried this turkey burger at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump's private club in Palm Beach. "I believe [it] may be the best turkey burger in the entire world," she says. The Mar-a-Lago Turkey Burger will be permanently available at the Trump Bar and Grille in Trump Tower in New York City, open to the public for lunch and dinner. It will also be served during lun*****hicago at Sixteen, the Trump International Hotel restaurant.
INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup scallions, thinly sliced
1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
1/8 cup canola oil
4 pounds ground turkey breast
2 Tbsp. salt
1 Tbsp. black pepper
2 tsp. chipotle Tabasco?
1 lemon, juice and grated zest
1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped
1/4 cup Major Grey's Chutney, pureed
Sauté the scallions, celery and apples in the canola oil until tender. Let cool.
Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add sautéed items and the remaining ingredients. Shape into eight 8-ounce burgers. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on a preheated, lightly oiled grill. Grill each side for 7 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Serve with a side of Mar-a-Lago Pear Chutney and your favorite toasted bread, pita or hamburger roll. "
I actually think a elephants ear is more of a fried bread with cinnamon and sugar. I think I called it the WRONG thing
I only ate a little of one..
My son did the pie eating contest and got 3rd place for his age group (12 and under)..he HATES pie which was the FUNNEST part of this..he is not a dessert eater unless it is a FUNNEL cake so I was holding it for him.

Austin, TX (AHN) - Watermelon rinds could be the new natural aphrodisiac, new research has shown. Researchers from Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center say the fruit's rind can have a Viagra-like effect.
The flesh and rind of watermelons contain citrulline, which reacts with the body's enzymes when consumed in large quantities. The compound is changed into arginine, an amino acid that benefits the heart and the circulatory and immune systems. Just like the popular Viagra and other drugs meant to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), it also helps relax and dilate blood vessels.
Researchers are now working on breeding watermelons with higher concentrations of citrulline in the flesh of the fruit. Nearly 60 percent of this phyto-nutrient is found in watermelon rind than the flesh. Though found in all colors of watermelon, it has the highest concentration in the yellow fleshed types.
However, a person would need to eat about six cups of watermelon to get enough citrulline to boost the body's arginine level and have the desired effect.
The organic compound citrulline is an alpha-amino acid. Its name is derived from citrullus, the Latin word for watermelon, from which it was first isolated in 1930. Citrulline in the form of citrulline malate is sold as a performance-enhancing athletic dietary supplement which is said to reduce muscle fatigue.
