Exercise: Listing Eats numerically
I eat 3 meals and enough snacks to reach high caloric intake with proteins at about 75-80g, as per Nutritionist. My eating coincides with taking supplements. 6 calcium pills (3 doses as required) taken through out the day, when not eating meals with iron-rich foods. I start with 2 bottles of supplements / Rxs and eat...take pills...eat...take pills.
I do have some hunger, but it is not much to talk about. I am more concerned with the %s of protein to fat to carbs to see if my meals are "balanced". I eat nuts not so much for the fat, but because I was told by one of the Drs. to eat some copper-rich foods each day. Plus nuts are full of other healthy goodies. Their fat content also keep the munchies away. Many of my food choices are based on Lab levels... if the level was low, I include a food that is rich in it into my meals. Water is probably the best reliever of the munchies. If my water intake is low, I reach for water or decaf green tea before food.
Question... What do you think of the amount of food that I am eating, especially since only 2LB of regained weight has been "maintained" since April?
You won't offend me. I think that it is absurd!
1. 1.5 oz "seafood" salad w/ light mayo and celery
2. light string cheese
3. LS oatmeal
4. 1.5 oz "seafood" salad as above
5. 3 multigrain pretzels
6. 1 Laughing Cow light cheese,
7. 2.5 oz Spring mix salad w/ veggies
8. 1 oz chickpeas w/ W-B spray
9. 2 oz pot roast w/ 1/2 oz light mayo
10. 1.5 oz "seafood" salad as above
11. 5 oz green beans w/ W-B spray
12. 2 multigrain pretzels w/ 1 T alfredo sauce
13. Nature Valley Roasted Almond Crunch Bar
14. 1 c. Farina w/ ICBIN...Butter
15. banana
16. mini popcorn w/ ICBIN...Butter
17. Fudgsicle
18. SF pudding w/ 2 T SF Cool Whip
19. NF yogurt
20. 1 Oats 'N Honey granola bar
21. NF yogurt

Ok...opinion: the amount doesn't seem like much since you are eating these things separately. It just basically amounts to measured and planned (?) grazing. On days when I don't track I eat just like that and I gain. I could pretty much read your intake there and gain from the carbs. And overall, except for the carbs, the actual numbers aren't that bad. My nut. and surgeon wants me to keep to 1200 calories for maintenance. If you aren't able to keep from losing at the 1800 range then don't worry about it...just keep eating to keep your lab levels within range.
That was totally no help, huh?
Hugs anyway,

Hey, Molly... After reviewing my weight tracker from April through July, ONLY 0.5 LB of the "regain" was maintained; the lowest weight was in mid-April at 128.5 LB.
In October, my weight was 163 LB and my Nutritionist said that it would be fine to lose an additional 10 LB +/- ... so I figured that I'd try to maintain at 150LB and plan for PS.
In January, I had already begun to add calories for maintenance reasons (PS!!!)
Oct = 163 (Nutritionist Appt)....
Nov = 157
Dec = 150
Jan = 145
Feb = 136.5 (8.5 LB loss)....
March = 135
April 8 = 135 (Nutritionist Appt)...
April 12 = 130 (5 LB loss in 5 days)...
May 8 = 128.5...
June 4 = 129
July 9 = 130.5
July 15 = ??? (Nutritionist Appt)
A few days ago, my PCP basically told me what the PA at the Surgeon's office said months ago... sometimes patients continue to lose and have to EAT A LOT to regain.
The Nutritionist told me that the CT Scan fluid "should not be there".
The Gyn-Onc told me that it's best to have a comparative CT Scan in Sept.
I'll be working with the Nutritionist on how best to "regain" over the next few months.
I've been frightened by this experience, especially by the thought that I "might" have cancer. All of this change has been sobering. It has changed my feelings about life.
Perhaps I am in denial, but I am putting my faith towards improved health...

My foods are eaten in groupings not in a grazing fashion. The snacks are usually combined such as pudding w/ cool whip and a granola bar. Meals are eaten at the basic times one would expect for Am, Noon, Evening. Snacks are eaten in between and through-out the night and early morning hours (2 am... 5 am).

I actually don't know what I expected to learn by asking this question.
Part of me feels like it is absurd to be told to eat at this level for a 2LB "maintenance".
Part of me feels alone in the WLS process that I was once a part of with the Dec Group. We shared common goals and disappoinments. My Eats set me apart from the group and may also undermind some members who are working so hard to stay within a caloric limit.
It is hard for me to relate at times now to how hard it is for others to lose weight.
I figured that it might also be hard now for others to relate to my weight situation.
Molly, Thank you for your response. I guess "it is what it is" for me, which is kind of being an odd ball. Once again I was asked if I was "Still trying to lose weight"... "that I did not look well...Do I exercise a lot? Do I eat? Then came..."Skin & Bones... that I looked so much better in December". DH looked at the person and said, "Doesn't she look beautiful? She's just so beautiful." I nearly cried. I replied that my metabolism has seemed to change and that my Dr. is following-up on my health.
Molly, I did see my PCP today and he gave me the "the ascites don't mean cancer talk" and the "you saw a Gyn-Onc, who will follow-up in 3 months with a recheck so he's not concerned that you are ill"... "Just eat... that's you're part and tell the Drs if anything changes"... I felt better and stupid at the same time. Now I just feel numb.
Thanks and ....
Have a good night.
