Mol... Are you OK? I can't imagine how you hold it together with the amount and type of illness that ha**** your family. I do pray for you to have the strength to get through this and all of your other responsibilities "in-one-piece". I remember your Thanksgiving wish about your parents... God Bless, you and them, Mol.
I gather that keeping busy at work, with the rose society, Sam's schooling, and Elizabeth's visits from college add some balance (or distraction) for you.
This past year I lost 3 family members and have 2 aging relatives who I have contact with, but their time is near... I fear. Seems the old have a better attitude on death and aging. It scares the *ell out of me. I wanted to find joy in these years onward, but it seems that there is a fair amount of sadness built in.
I heard the song on YouTube: Johnny Cash Hurt and can't seem to get it out of my mind... it must mean something to me or my fears.
Part of it says...Everyone I love goes away in the end... and I choke-up.
I realize that this might not help you... but I do mean well.. and to be supportive.
My heart goes out to you and special prayers for your mom & dad XOXOXO Ro
