Hi, Rachel!
Just wondering why you want to up the pouch test to 2 weeks? Have you heard of any other post-ops doing this on the OH boards? How's the SparkPeople food journalling going? Are you weighing your food? I am because it does make using SparkPeople much easier to figure-out. Looking forward to your update!!!

I've got to add a ditto too. I think there are a lot of things you could do after the five days...maybe alternate between a purely normal day and then two days of day four or five. But if you try to go without fruits and fiber that long you are going to set your bowels up for some real trouble. Go back in our archives here to around Feb or March last year, I think. (Somebody, help me out here...Melissa's dreadful FOS episode) Read about the hell Melissa went through getting her gut bound up...you do NOT want to go there.
I wouldn't think the moodiness would be anything to worry about...any of us can be moody on any kind of dietary restriction. But think of your health. Modify the pouch test somehow...it is a valuable tool but I don't think it would be a healthy eating plan for very long. Have you ever googled the Platea Buster Diet here on OH? Even that which is very restrictive is only 10 days long.
Good luck, get your mom on board with you too!

I didnt really think of the fiber aspect of that i want to do the test again because it really helped me alot i think that if i did it longer i would be able to shake my carb addiction it is killing me i never noticed it until after my surgery and i actually started running the numbers crazy like 200 it is sooooooooooooo awful i this is the only thing i could think of. It is driving my insane and when i was doing the test it was easier eventhough it was hard as h*ll days one and two i was nearly to tears over carbs I felt so silly.
Shaking the carb monster is the best reason in the world for wanting to continue on the pouch test but just find your own way to modify it. Maybe do the five days and then after that add back regular foods but for carbs do only brown carbs...nothing white like white flour baked products or pastas or potatoes or rice. That way you could add in some fiber-y carbs to sooth your soul and help out your guts too. Have you tried whole wheat tortillas yet? I can eat half of one with a bunch of different stuff inside and it really satisfies my need for carbs without setting off the horrible, horrible cravings. Or maybe some cereals that have no wheat in them but have oat, etc.
From experience I know better personally than to go near anything white flours...every, EVERY time I do I have trouble. Even sf baked goods. (like those evil Mrs. Freshleys) GRRRR! Sometimes I think I'll never learn but that is why this is a recovery process for me. I'll never truly be cured.
Good for you running those numbers, keep it up! That will help you retrain your eating patterns. You CAN do this, Rachel!
