Long time ago...
Hi... I haven't been here in eons.
History:
Had surgery in Dec 2006, was losing weight beautifully until my 40th birthday in Feb 2007. My present - got knocked up! That's right, two months into my weightloss journey, and not supposed to be pregnant. Oh well...
Fast forward nine months:
Weight gain: 22 lbs - still 12 pounds below my pre-surgery weight.
Lapband issues: none - didn't have any fills, still at original first fill
post-birth: to date (4 months later) I have lost about 40 lbs - without doing anything - the weight immediately started to drop, and my band seemed to magically reappear (during pregnancy, i could eat like a horse!)
Oh yea - beautiful baby boy, Allin - went full term (5 days shy of due date), had emergency c-section - recovery was fine
So, now I have leveled out and need to get fill, but still have issues with rice, bread and potatoes. Anything crispy, I can do - also chicken seems to mess with me.
Wow, congratulations on your baby! Would it be too nosy of me to ask if you are breastfeeding and if so, how has that affected your diet?
My original wls was VBG and it functioned like a band so I understand your issues with the starchy foods...they were never my friends. Chicken is a problem for a lot of us because of it's protein molecules. At my support group we were told that once those protein strands are broken up they try to reattach themselves worse than any other proteins, which is why it goes into our pouches and feels like a lead weight sometimes. I have gotten around that by always eating my chicken with another food like a veggie or more often some fat free ranch dressing. It prevents the protiens from sticking to themselves.
How long before your next fill and how do you decide how often to get them? Hope you will hang out here with all us other December babies and let us share in your weekly victories.
Molly
