What did ya eat and how did ya move today? Tuesday
Happy Tuesday! Beatriz had her surgery today and I have been thinking of her.. lets all be thinking of her and hope that she is doing well today. I can't wait to hear how everything goes! I am sure it went great!
So tell me.. how did ya move today? I myself did lots of errands and was going to go to the gym but the snow started falling.. again I was upset its been a long long cold winter.. its getting to everyone. We get very little sun in Iowa during the winters.. its very hard on everyone and u can tell.. a lot of "edgy" people around here right now So because it started to snow and I have a slow leak in a tire of my car now.. I headed home. I didn't run b/c time just got away from me but I did go shopping and did lots of it.. walked all over the world. I also have my therapy appointment today.. boy did she get her money's worth. She gave me a meditation CD and I look forward to trying it out. I told her I was reading "The Beck Diet" by Judith Beck. If you haven't read this book, its a winner.. deals with the behaviors and mental aspects that we need to conquer in order to be successful at any diet. It is not a diet book.. there is a workbook out there too and I want to get my hands on it but haven't yet.
As for my eats.. today was my official Day 1 of the 5DPT..
Breakfast: 8 oz of light vanilla soy milk and 1 scoop of arctic frapp cappacino protein powder (My husband who hates protein powder is totally hooked on this stuff, hes had a shake 2 days in a row now! Yeah!)
Snack: Grande decaf SF vanilla hazelnut latte made with soy milk
Snack: 1 cup SF Jello (packed it with me!) then a large decaff coffee with 2 of those half and half moo moo's and splenda (i know bad but it was so good). stopped at a gas station to get gas and fill up tire.
Lunch: 1 cup split pea soup with 1/2 ounce of mont jack cheese, tbsp of light sour cream and some crumbled bacon on top (5DPT recipe)
Snack: EAS Shake
Dinner: Chocolate PB shake (choc protein powder and pb2 with vanilla soy milk and ice YUM!!!) .. I found PB2 in the organic aisle of the grocery store. Have you guys seen this stuff? It's powdered peanuts.. pressed from roasted peanuts and u add water and it makes peanut butter with 75% less fat. 2 tablespoons once mixed with water is only 54 cals, 2 fats and 4 proteins, 3 carbs.. amazing! Not sure if is supposed to be allowed on the liquid days but shrugs.. its only 54 more cals and more protein and low carb.. I finally get to indulge in PB again in a safe way.. it tastes SO good too! I highly recommend this. I have tried other products like soy peanut butters and better'n peanut butter.. ick.. its awful. This stuff wins hands down!
Snack: 1 cup Jello
Totals.. cals 1031, fats 29, carbs 76, fiber 12, protein 118 - Feels dang good to be back on track ya all!
How did you do? Please share!
Still working on my chamomile tea so I came back to the mb to read more and here you are too! I am going to mark my calendar...it is a full moon, I saw a meteor drop hugely this morning on the way to work (the whole city was talking about it) AND for the first time EVER I came in with lower carbs than you. It will probably never, ever happen again but it did happen just this once.
Have a short day tomorrow followed by an a.m. Tupperware party where they'll be making microwave lemon cake. I will be bringing my own soup. As long as they have the microwave fired up they can just heat up my soup. Huh!
Molly
PS...thank you for the tip on the fiber supplements, I wouldn't have thought of taking extra during this 5DPT. The last thing I want to do is get bound up from all of this! Hugs!!!
PS, PS...I placed an order at Bariatriceating.com today for a case of vanilla Mice Milk and more Kay's Naturals Parmesan Crisps. I had no idea they were discontinuing the Mice Milk, that is too bad. Since my order was over $35 I qualified for a free gift so I ordered the free sample of the Arctic Frapp. Am very curious to see how it compares to the Nectar Latte Cappuccino. I have a whole cannister of that stuff to finish! You know me the protein nympho. Except for soy powder I never met a powdered protein supplement I couldn't drink. Ready-to-drinks are a whole nuther story....
I had no idea they were discontinuing it.. thats sad, so many people love it. It is rather expensive and wonder if that is why?
I am glad you are gonna try the arctic frapp.. i also tried the mocha cappacino by Elite, its pretty good. Only 17 bucks a tub.. not as good as the gourmet whey arctic frapp though! My husband asked for a second one tonight! So it has to be great if thats the case! haha.. i mean wow for him to ask for one then TWO.. you know its gotta be something!
I love protein supplements myself.. call us weird. I was talking to my Angel tonight and she was saying how she always hated the stuff. I truly enjoy the liquid days of my diet.. its yummy i think! haha.. like treats all day long. We both love our drinks tho don't we? Lattes, shakes.. yum.
I ended up not having the EAS today so I came in at 921 cals and around 100 protein 72 carbs and 25 fats.. amazing for me.. im so happy with myself getting back on track.. one more day of liquids.
Hey did you read you could have half of an apple or orange or take Emergen-C to help with carb withdrawl headaches? I forgot to add that in. I have had 1/2 of an orange both days to prevent headaches.. I used to do this when I was on a high protein diet before.. it always worked so for me whenever I detox its a must... it works so well. Its only about 7 carbs and 20ish cals for that... i don't dump on them either and it just so happens my husband's grandparents from CA sent us fresh oranges.. so perfect treat for me.
See ya tomorrow... Day 2 it is!
We are doing great!
I'd forgotten that about the orange or apple. Still have the headache today so I will give it a try.
Had the most delicious chocolate shake this morning....oy vey! My shakes truly are treats like they are for you. And I must make them pretty good, even my son requests them.
Boiling eggs right now for tomorrow...I think I will have that egg/cottage cheese thing for breakfast. The thought of fish for breakfast is too awful and I can't cook an egg at work. It will be another long, hard day tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how I do with these foods. I may throw in a mozz. stick or two, haven't decided. The kind i get is Frigo Cheese Heads Light which are lower in fat and very dry compared to other brands so it might work well by way of being dry enough protein.
Just got back from Costco where they FINALLY had their Mahi Mahi in stock again. It has been months and months since they had any and that is the only white fish that I like. What great timing! Don't really know whether it would count for day three or four but I'll try it on four and see.
Am planning on using a tiny, tiny bit of salsa with my tuna tomorrow. I just can't do *any* meats straight up plain unless I want them to immediately get stuck.
So glad I have been able to avoid temptation and it has been hard, big stress here at home last night. Yes, we are doing great!
Yum.. i also made a great shake using starbucks SF mocha and the cookies and cream matrix.. talk about decadent! YUM! So glad we love shakes haha! So many people do not.. id be hurting without my "treats".
Sounds like you have a good plan for tomorrow Molly! I think the salsa is a great idea.. yum.. i love walmarts black bean salsa.. kinda smokey sweet tasting. Yum..
Sorry to hear you had a lot of stress and so glad you can overcome it when needed... keep staying empowered.. you motivate me thank you! *hugs*
Hi there sweetie! I can tell you what I love and you can try it, know that everyone is different and what *I* love you may hate That is the bad thing about protein powders.
But since you love chocolate and coffee.. I am your girl!
I get the chocolate protein powder from either walmart (body fortress brand, cheap stuff) or Costco (sportpharma brand). To be they are the best I have found. Some people like Unjury brand and its good (www.unjury.com) but its expensive. Also chocolate Matrix 5.0 is good and you can find it at bariatriceating.com (google susan and maria if that doesn't work and the website should come up for you!)
I also love Arctic Frapp Cappaccino by Gourmet Whey (its a canadian brand) and I also get it from Susan Maria's website (bariatric eating. com) She also sells Cookies and Cream Matrix 5.0 which is delicious! Comes in a 5 lbs bag (all the matrix ones do) and are a bit expensive but worth it and last a VERY long time.
I also LOVE LOVE Cafe Caramel EAS Shakes.. I can't find them locally. They are ready to drink, 11 oz and 110 cals only and 17 proteins. I love them VERY cold so I put them in the freezer for a bit before I drink them. I can only find chocolate fudge (pretty good), strawberry and french vanilla on the shelves at walmart, target, grocery stores etc. I have to go EAS.com to order the Cafe Caramel ones. Some people have found them in their local grocery stores though. The caramel ones for some reason are higher (maybe b/c they have some actual coffee/caffeine in them?) and they run me 86 dollars for 48 shakes (2 boxes) on their website, EAS.com. You get 10% off each case of 24 if you order 2 and free shipping.
Otherwise I did make this shake from early out which is a lot more work but well worth it... all you need is chocolate protein powder, mil**** coffee and SF khalua davinci syrup (I get it in the coffee aisle at walmart, pretty cheap).
Iced Mocha/Khalua Frappacinno Protein Shake - MY FAV!!!!
Ingredients:
8 oz of milk (I use light vanilla soy milk, tastes the best!)
1 decaf Folgers coffee tea bag (yes they make these and for some reason it tastes the best)
3/4 scoop of choc protein powder
1 small dab of sugar free khalua davinci syrup
optional squirt of light whipping cream (Rhedi whip makes one that is fat free, 5 cals, and 1 sugar per serving).
***I get all the ingredients at walmart, except the chocolate protein powder I get at Costco, Sportpharma brand. You can use whatever chocolate protein powder you have on hand though.
Directions:
I use the magic bullet, you can also use a blender. I pour my milk, protein powder and small dab of syrup together. I then put that aside. I then take 3 oz of water and boil it in the microwave and then add my folgers decaf tea bag to this. I use a spoon to really smoo**** and get all the coffee flavor out of it for a minute. Then I add some ice cubes to cool this mixture off. Makes about 6 oz of fluid. Then I add this to my mixture and then blend it real well. I pour this over ice, add a squirt of whip and wala!!! It is soooooooooooooo yummy!!!
Try different things.. get syrups from Starbucks in SF varieties or at grocery stores.. add them to coffee/protein powder/ice combos..
Honestly I don't understand it when people say they don't like protein bars or supplements, I truly need them as my sweet fix and I love that they provide me additional nutrients/vitamins and protein. It's a win win situation as long as they are figured into your daily caloric intake.
I hope this helps some. Molly and I also have espresso machines (you can get one for 40 dollars at walmart/target) and make lattes almost daily.. I have drank them from the beginning of my journey. Creativity is what its all about. Use SF syrups, skim milk or light vanilla soy milk and espresso and enjoy your healthy treat! A lot of this surgery is about the mind and being creative which some people refuse to take the time and then they end up in a rut.. its worth it to give it some thought and planning.
Have fun with it!
On my way out the door to support group but wanted to give you a few of my favorites. Isopure in dutch chocolate is yummy but pricey at GNC. Cheaper online, check your local stores. I have just bought the Body Fortress from WalMart and hear it is yummy, haven't tried it yet. Also love the EAS powders available from Costco. Love, love, love the Sytrax 'Nectar' line of powders. They mix brilliantly in water with no blender...even warm. My favourite is Latte Cappuccino followed by Fuzzy Naval. Also good are the strawberry kiwi and Caribbean Cooler. Go online to bariatriceating.com to read about the products before you go out to shop, you can do some protein and calorie comparison that way.
The only proteins I've tried that I can't stand are the soy-based ones. Even Spiru-Tein made from spirulina protein is good tasting. The best tasting to my mouth are the whey proteins tho.
Happy hunting!
Molly
