I am praying I can do this as I am not a protein drink drinker..does that make sence BUT I think I want to TRY the 5 day pouch test...any takers. AND when it says Pudding on day 1 and 2..what type of pudding did you eat? The kind you make of the sugar free/fat free pudding cups? Any suggestions will help me. I need to do something as I can not get out of the number I am in AND I am tired of going up and down the same 4 pds. Diana

Diana, I'll do it with you if you'll give me at least a full day to get ready for it. I have to get a few things put away out of the fridge, shop for supplies and then get on the website and read up about it. Maybe Melissa will be back online soon and give us some tips. Have you read the msg. board over on the 5dpt website? She said there are a lot of good ideas there. I don't know anything about the puddings but I do have some samples of protein puddings that I never used so that is a possibility. ? Molly

Diana, Just spent what feels like hours over at their website reading 'the neighborhood' posts about the test. It was nice and informative until I ran into the post that was rather offensive and more or less told people to quit asking questions about how they can test the limits of the prescribed program and just suck it up and do it as written. Geez! I can see where this program would definitely make you rethink the things you are eating and would cause a bit of confusion. For instance, I wonder about the Special K2O water packets? They have 30 calories, some protein and definitely WATER when made but would they be allowed on days 1 and 2 or would they be considered the meal? Somewhere in one of those posts someone asked about adding extra ice to their protein shakes and was told not to because the goal was to keep the shakes to a 1-cup minimum. Now, nowhere in the basic program info about those first two days did it say the liquids had to be in 1-cup increments. Maybe I am just staying up way too far past my usual bedtime for any of this to make sense to me. At any rate, I have a basic shopping list of what I'll need to have on hand to do this right. The soup recipes sound very good but it looks like I'm going to need to purchase about a case of chicken broth. Glad to be doing this in the winter, I don't think I'd be too gung-ho for this program in the summer when there are too many temptations like strawberries and melons around. Besides, who wants to eat hot soup in the summer??? Molly

Hi Molly! Please read my replies to Diana to understand my situation right now. As for the "evil thread".. I know which lady you speak of.. shes kinda of taken a hitler role on that site if you ask me.. I just ignore her. most of the time they are very supportive and positive. Truth be told tho it is best to just stick with the plan given for the best results I have found and not try to put "side items" into the plan and make them "legal". As for the Special K20 packets.. I think those are find honestly.. no big deal there at all.. u are getting some fiber in (5 grams) with those and will need some fiber on this diet honestly, i also add fibersure to all my shakes. It helps. They would not be considered meals.. just drink only a couple a day.. id say like 2 and limit and make it part of your fluid consumption. I know what you mean about the ice.. I saw that as well. It never says these things then people "read into" and start asking each other and Kaye about all the "details" themselves (I am guilty, I am sure you saw my thread trying to get clarification on things). I blend my shakes with ice.. if you want me to swallow those puppies and actually enjoy them there just is no other way for me.. i like em slushie. I did this last time, I lost 8 lbs.. I say do what makes you feel good.. its water for pete's sake.. and more fluid for us. silly.. silly... the cup thing is b/c on day 3-5 we are to keep it to 4-6 oz weighed protein or 1 cup volume (works out about the same just different ways to measure) so I think some of the girls are applying this to the liquid rule as well.. I personally say "GET OVER IT".. its a liquid and not staying in that pouch but second anyway.. not like a shake hangs in our pouch. The physiology of the pouch makes that whole idea "bogus" if you ask me. Add your ice if it makes you like your shakes better.. I am. I also have to do what works for me and stay on track. Just like I told Diana.. with the SF puddings/yogurts etc.. originally they aren't part of the plan but somehow people have snuck them in along the way making them "legal" foods for some and not for others (hitler!) and well ya know what.. if u are adding some protein powder to the pudding (yogurt has a fair amount itself usually) and limiting it to one portion a day.. and it KEEPS You on your plan.. then do it. We have to use our brains with it also.. I plan to follow it to a "T" this time to get the best results.. but if I have to have a yogurt or its go off plan.. then I will have the yogurt.. ya know what I mean? I bought the big can of FF/50% low sodium chicken broth. If you make the split pea soup I do add about 12 oz more chicken broth to it or it gets like cement thick especially once its refrigerated. I hope this helps some.. i am off to cook my split pea soup.. i really wanna get this weight gain off.. surgery is totally a tool.. that is it.. nothing more and never think otherwise.. my best advice.. i can eat a lot and often and more junk then before (thank god I do still dump like a truck now). Going on this trip was the best thing ever for me but also really set me off into a preop eating way of life.. b/c i was forced almost to do it b/c no food choiced after I was already eating on a frenzy then PK was here and lets just say she can outeat me and still lose weight.. how is that fair? le sigh... not this girl.. i will gain.. its a proven fact.

I read your replies...you have such a good grasp of this plan! And for heavens sake, some of the 'rules' are just too silly like the ice cube thing. Too many cooks in the kitchen, I think. The chicken broth is simmering on the stove and smells divine. My folks are on their way over so now my cooking time is going to be all skewed, I may not be able to start this till Weds. now. le sigh from me! Oh, btw..speaking of yogurt...my WalMart has a brand of Greek Style yogurt now. It comes out $2 cheaper than the Fage yogurt and isn't as good but at least it isn't as bad as the Greek Gods brand yogurt. I think once the five days are over I'll be very glad to have it! So glad to see you back on the board, don't worry about any of us and the weight gain. Seems like we are kinda split down the middle here recently...some of us are having some freak-out regain days and some of us are losing steadily still. No matter what, we're all in this together and there is no shame in any of it. Hugs! Molly

Do you like coffee? I am in love with Gourmet Whey Arctic Frap Cappacino.. sooo soo yum and NO protein aftertaste. I got it off Susan Maria's site. Otherwise take chocolate protein powder, some SF khalua davinci syrup (got it at walmart) and 4 oz milk/4 oz water (or soy milk in light vanilla flavor) and add some chilled decaf coffee about 4 oz and some ice and blend.. now that is heaven. Im a coffee junkie and coffee flavored stuff i cannot taste the protein in 9 times out of 10. Otherwise try warming the chocolate one up.. but never add protein powder do scolding hot liquid as it will "curdle".. gotta add it warm then stir then heat up again. You can make awesome hot cocoa and add "extracts" like peppermint or cinnamon for a good warm cup of protein. Also love chocolate/peppermint with milk blended.. very refreshing like an andes mint in a shake form. Also love Matrix brand of powders.. the chocolate and cookies and cream! They come in 5 lbs bags.. A LOT FOR YOUR MONEY though.. and worth the price. Also on susan maria's website (bariactriceating.com) This company also makes an orange dream cycle flavor that I hear is out of this world that I have yet to try. EAS makes ready to drink protein drinks in choc fudge that is pretty good, but I chill them before i drink them.. love em ice cold. I love the caramel cafe flavor but hard to find in the store, have to order online from EAS.com. I hope that helps! I am doing this right along side with you.. I can't even state my weight right now, just too humilated.

Molly I was just wondering if you started the 5 day today? I have to say I know my pouch is working as I NEVER could have made it to 7 with out "real" food. AND I realized how many times during a day I think/open the pantry and want food. Today has been a REALLY good normal eating day for me Good Luck Diana

Hi Diana, Yes, I started it and boy am I digusted with myself. I have had all-liquid days in the past 8 years since having a pouch and haven't had this much trouble. From looking at my calories I am not very far off a normal day with the exception of carbs and having waaay more fat. I think I should NOT be having a headache just from reducing my carbs slightly. Really ticks me off with myself. Lots of head hunger today, too. I decided not to cook dinner for anybody and announced that they just had to fend for themselves. (Not like it is difficult to find food in MY kitchen. HA!) DH had a bad day at work, he has been ranting and raving ever since he got home about an hour ago. My head is pounding! Wanna go to bed!
