Did everybody have a good day today? I was so happy to make it to work in one piece and then to make it home ok but the stress was no fun. Had hives all last night and all day today. So glad to be off work tomorrow. Whew! (Is it ever going to be spring???) My husband saw the news coverage of what the commute was like this morning and he was very impressed with my driving skills. LOL! I'm just blessed to be on the roads when there aren't very many other motorists around acting stupid and recklessly. Shortly after I made it to work they locked down the base and we were pretty much stranded at the BX because of the drifts but the roads got cleared and the sun came out and melted down the roads beautifully by quitting time. The piles of snow on the side of the roads are really impressive! Anyway, sorry to bore you with that. It was an 8-hr day today and I think I got a pretty good workout because my muscles are plenty tired and I'm so sleepy. Yesterday I did 45 minutes on the treadmill and yet still didn't have that big gain worked off. Oh well, I will keep at it this weekend and get that weight off!!! Here's today's eats. One new thing...I tried that Special K water supplement that is supposed to help you feel less hungry and it worked! Doesn't taste great but I don't care! --nf, sf soy latte 1) homemade tvp prot. bar 2) 1 PK's protein muffin ( I can usually eat two, today just one) 3) 1 serving diet cheesecake (birthday celebration at work so I made a special treat for the diabetic guy and me...it was yummy!) 4) 1 slice PK's Meat Crust pizza 5) another serving of diet cheesecake when I got home (left the rest at work!) 6) 2 oz. organic, low-fat cheeto's-type things. Rest of the bag went to the dog, they tasted too good! 7) 1/2 cup vegetarian, fat-free refried beans calories: 978 carbs: 85 fats: 34 protein: 75 The numbers are WAAAY better than my usual and I have to credit tha****er additive. Still don't see enough veggies or fresh fruit in my intake, need to work on that! Don't want to end up FOS.

Wow, you had a good day Ro! The Special K water tasted like a weak pink lemonade. Maybe it should be mixed in less water...I did it in a 17 oz. bottle because I can't stand really strong drink mixes and of course always try to get in the max amount of water for whatever container I grab. haha Did you see the Oprah show with Dr. Oz? I caught the last half hour or so--he is so interesting that I can even stand to watch her now when he is on. (her shows on wls just get me too steamed) I printed out the list of things he says a person should eat, do and supplements to take to age well. The food stuff would be pretty hard for me, there's no way I'd want all the things on that list but the supplements should be fairly easy. I want to ask my surgeon about the baby aspirin. I understood that we could have NO aspirin. Just curious. I also want his opinion on the other things...the DHA Omega-3, for instance. With the extra D I'm taking now as well as the anti-stink pills (which work pretty well, btw!) it seems like I'm with you on the taking pills around the clock thing.

Sorry to say...I didn't see the show. If the list is printed on the O site, maybe I can get a copy... Let me know what your Dr. thinks! Ro

PK lately stands for Paradise Kitty but it was originally Plump Kitty...she is most regularly on the RNY mb and has posted some amazing recipes. My two favourites of hers are the pumpkin muffin/pies and the meat crust pizza. http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=136362 http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=127542 FOS (Full Of S*it) is an actual medical term I learned from Melissa. She isn't back on the mb yet but will be soon, she was just on the OH cruise and has company right now. You'll love her! Even though she eats very carefully, drinks her water faithfully and exercises she developed a problem with her bowels and shared some important information with us here on how to avoid that. Molly....drinking my nonfat, sugar free soy latte right now which ALWAYS includes some mix-in tasteless fiber supplement!

Which flavor of the Special K did you try? I love the iced tea one. I get two of them for $1.30 every now, as a treat from Walgreens. Today: B: 1/2 c off name brand of honey & oats, basically, with 1/2 c 1% milk L: chicken enchilada, few bites of beans, and about 1/4 c spanish rice D: other half of the above lunch (so same thing) S: 4 Hershey's New York cheesecake filled Kisses (bad, but oooooh so good!) Hey, I had to taste test them before I put them in Valentine's bags to give to my beloved co-workers! Especially since I'm making them WLS desserts (which they don't know) and balsamic chicken for the potluck on Valentine's. Okay, dragging the DH off to bed.. because I stay cold and he's a good heat source! Tsk, tsk.. I know what ya'll were thinking.

Well if you know what we were thinking then why did ya go and spoil our good time! I didn't know the Special K water came in diff. flavours, all I've seen locally is the pink lemonade. Maybe I should research this online and buy the other one to try. The fact that I wasn't so hungry was such a plus that it really helped offset the taste issue. Thank you for the warning on the kisses...I'll skip buying them for the kids. I've had a horrid time the last two days with some organic, 'healthy' snacks that I got on my last natural foods store run. (It is called Huckelberries and is the closest thing to a Trader Joe's here in town.) My own warning: if you can't control yourself with snacks like me then don't even buy Little Bear brand snacks. The numbers and ingredients are very good on them but they just taste too good! I had the ones that are like Cheeto's and the ones that are like cheese puffs and both caused me terrible mental pain. They will NOT be coming home with me next trip to that store. boohoo! (Frankly, after this many months post-op I keep wondering when in the world I'll quit buying potential snacks because I always end up wanting to overeat them!) We are having a fundraiser potluck at work on Valentines day and your balsamic chicken sounds good. Would you share the recipe? Please??? Thank you in advance! Molly

Hi Molly Is the Special K water you buy the protein water bottled or packs you add to your own water? I have the bottles and I do not like them at all I sooo agree with if you can not control your self with snacks do not buy them. I bought converstion hearts for the "kids" this week and I ate all the yellow ones and then just started on any old color and packed them up and sent them to work with my husband. I love love love converstion hearts which is so sad. The other thing I will not buy anymore is the carmel rice cakes. I know you can have 14 for 60 calories but I honest to gosh eat the whole bag. Soo no more of them in my house.. Have a good weekend. D

Diana, I got all excited when I found what I thought were conversation hearts in sugar free. Turns out they are actually Sweet Tarts in sugar free. Try to chew them and you fear for your dental work. Plus, being sugar free you sure don't want to eat many of them. Yuck...another candy letdown. I hear ya on the carmel rice cakes...I get the large size but it is the same trouble. So what that one is 40 calories...it tastes so good I want to eat three or four of them! And don't try the Paul Newman cinnamon sugar soy crisps. Also too delicious...grrrr! Molly
