Amazing!
Didn't see it, but hopefully the publicity (good and bad) will be a wake up call to those that do. I did a term paper once regarding childhood obesity, and actually requiring the school system to be more restrictive and nutritious in their menus (before they actually started doing it, of course). So, even though it seems absurd, I see his point.. if you don't mention it, everyone just keeps ignoring the problem (or avoiding trying to find solutions)!
I say they should make all the fast food chains have ONE serving size, small, and regulate that, for starters. Imagine what the would do just for the teenagers who are McDonald addicts?
I hadn't seen this....you know i have heard it said that obesity is the only accepted prejudice left. Can you imagine if a person of a different race/religion was refused service at a restaurant because of their race/religion......what makes this any different? While i can understand where their mind might be --like Bea said --going about it in the wrong way ---dawn

It got attention, but it also has to be voted on now. If he had no intension of it being a real bill, why waste time and money within that state. It seems like an abuse of his position that he'd present an issue for his amusement or to make obese people uncomfortable, if not more distained than they already may feel.
Perhaps he should have gone with making bartenders refuse to serve drinks to the alcoholic, who will later drive home...endangering others. At least MADD would back that bill!
I'd love for all MO people to somehow start their weight loss journey, but embarrassment just doesn't sit well with me.
PS: Thanks for the correct spelling! (((Hug)))

I'm not sure we'll ever know what the intention was or if there even was a singular intention. And I know it's not a popular position, but I'm not worried too much about popularity - I wish someone would have "embarrassed" me and made me feel "uncomfortable" enough to get off my big stupid butt and do something long before I actually did.
I really don't care what other people's motivation is if it creates a motivation for someone else to save their own life. And I wouldn't mind a bill to make it illegal for alcoholics to be served liquor, too. Would you be concerned about how embarrassed drunks would be about that?
Not a sermon
just an opinion
