Update on doc's visit

As many of you know I have a hernia repair and panni removal scheduled for feb 19 with the doc who did my RNY. He suggested that I have the breast work done at the same time so I went to see a PS friend of him today. This PS surgeon charges $7500.00 for a breast lift and augmentation but I think I am going to have the breast work later on in Colombia where is much cheaper. I do not have that kind of money easily available and do not wish to incurr any credit card debt. Tomorrow I am going to call the doc in Colombia and see if he will give me a ballpark figure of how much he charges for this kind of work. On the other hand, after I left the PS office, I decided to call my insurance company to inquire about the status of my claim for the Hernia and Panni removal and was told that the hernia was approved but the panni removal wasn't. Later on, the doc's office called to informed me that the claim was denied but that my doc had talked to the medical director and we should hear from him tomorrow. If my insurance won't cover the panni removal, I will have to pay a total of about $6,000 for the panni removal part. I should hear from my doc's office sometime tomorrow and hopefully they will have super great news for me. I will be saying a nice prayer for my panni removal approval as I go to bed tonite. Beatriz

I wish you nothing but the best of luck. My insurance company was the same way. They never did cover mine...darn them...I will say a little prayer in hope that your insurance company will come around a cover you!

Thanks Maghan. BTW, can I ask how much did your panni removal cost? If my insurance won't cover, I wil have to pay $2000.00 for surgeons fees and about $4000.00 for hospital fees. Is this amount close to what you ended up paying?

Ro, no updates yet. I was just talking to DH about it. I am going to call the insurance company later on and find out.
