2nd Post Op Visit Today
Went to my Dr. appointment today. He took out one more drain which leaves me with two. I am going to go crazy. They are right in the groin area and are very irritating. They also hurt when I move...damn things. He did take some staples out of my belly button also.
I have to give him a call on Thursday and let him know how the drains are doing and I may (chances are not good) get another out. That would be wonderful.
Anyway, this surgery has been so much harder on me than the bypass was. I am really having a hard time getting back my energy. I know that I lost quite a bit of blood this time, but my go**** has been 10 days. You would think by now I could go a day without three or four naps. It is driving me crazy.
Just wanted to keep you all updated.
Take care!
Good to hear you are doing better, slowly but better.
I am going to see my WLS surgeon on Wed and I think we are going to move foward with presenting my case for a hernia repair and TT to the insurance.
Did you have your surgery with a plastic surgeon or with a regular surgeon? Do you know what's the difference? What your overall experience with this surgery?
Bea
Thank you. I have pictures up and you are more than welcome to take a look~
I submitted my case to insurance and the only thing they would cover was the hernia. My panis wasn't big enough to cause me any problems and they didn't want to cover it, however for me, it was a big deal, so I had it done.
I had my regular surgeon do my TT. He did a great job. I will try and get more pictures up tomorrow so you can see. Each surgeon has a different way of doing them and I think that here, both the plastics and WLS surgeon do a great job. I chose to have my general surgeon basically because I work with him and trust him so much.
I am really struggling with this surgery...no lie. I am cut from sternum to pubis and a little past each hip and am finding it harder to recover from this, than the open RNY. I can however tell you that I am happy that I did it. I can see a difference already, even in my sweat pants and I can't wait until the drains are gone as well as the swelling.
As far as pain, it isn't bad at all. My biggest complaint is my drains. I started with four and am down to two, however it sounds as though I will keep these last two drains in for at least another week or two. I did lose quite a bit of blood and had to have a transfusion and I think that is also a big factor as to why I am having such a hard time with this surgery. I have talked to people on the Plastics board and they too say that the plastics seems to be harder than their original surgery, but who knows?
If I can help with anything else, please let me know.
I's sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I am going to need a TT and it really worries me about recovery. My band surgery was no big deal. I have had toothaches that gave me more trouble. As far as the TT or LBL I am very concerned. Thanks for being honest about the pain issues. I'm not sure everyone really tells how bad it can be. I would love to see your pics. Best of luck to you. I'll say a prayer you get your energy back very soon.
Maghan, I'm so sorry to hear you are having such a tough time recuperating from your surgery (well, surgeries really). Ow, ow, ow...drains in the groin area! Drain issues are something you don't see a lot of coverage on in all the various plastic surgery shows on tv.
Since you lost a lot of blood you have to be patient with yourself. It is going to take time to get your strength built up again. If your body says 'nap' then don't worry about it. I hope it will all work out with your job and the amount of time off you have, you mentioned that being a problem before.
Thanks for keeping us updated. Hang in there, we are all rooting for you!
HUGS!!!!
