Hi Everyone! Is it cold where you are? OMG it is FREEZING here.. supposed to get 5-9 inches of snow by friday... brrrrrr - I feel like all I do is wrap up in blankets these days to keep myself warm. brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Anyways.. hope you are having a good week! yesterday was a bad day with blood sugars for me and left me wiped out today. I tried to run, got 7 minutes into and was too fatigued to continue Not making me happy but I am hoping tomorrow is better. As for eating.. here is what I have nibbled on today. B: Homeade protein shake using 8 oz light vanilla soy milk, 1 scoop choc protein powder, decaff espresso, SF khalua syrup, poured over ice with a squirt of light whip. L: Atkins PB Granola Bar (was out shopping) Found some great cargos at walmart for 3 bucks!! I love a good bargain! S: 1/2 ounce of weigh****chers reduced fat cheddar cheese with one package of Kay's Naturals Snack Mix (1.5 ounce) and then later a SF Iced Venti Vanilla Latte (decaff) - husband surprised me with it. Milk never bothers my sugars.. amazingly. ***If you go to Kay's Naturals website and get a "sampler pack" You get like 13 mini (preportined) snacks in various flavors for 5 bucks each. I ordered 3 of them.. so what almost 40 bags and I got 20% off b/c in the "additional info" section if you put the world "mini challenge" you get 20% off your total order. Will come in handy for the cruise and very yummy.. low carb, high protein*** D: Chicken Sausage with Greek Salad S: EAS Shake most likely. Cals: 997, fat 33, carbs 69, fiber 6, protein 111 (a bit carbophobic today...argh)

Hi...resident piglet checking in here. I am very discouraged after looking at your eats, Melissa. Just when I get myself resigned to not beating myself up over such repeatedly high carbs I make the mistake of looking at yours. Slowly but surely I am reducing the available carbs that normally tempt me in the house. The guys aren't liking it but at this point they have no choice. I should probably join Kelly in the 5-day pouch test but am just not ready to do it yet with inventory prep and stress in full force. Today was a day off, I even put on my aerobics clothes but didn't work out. Shopped and worked on the house all day so no real moves for me. "I meant to" doesn't count and I know it. --nf, sf soy latte 1) cottage cheese pancakes w/1/2 apple, sf syrup and three squirts whipped topping 2) 3/4 cup 0% fage yogurt, 1/2 cup strawberry cereal (the LAST premeasured container of this stuff....yeah!) 3) 2 splenda gingerbread cookies and tea (getting rid of frozen leftover cookies, too) 4) one huge piece of pk's meat crust pizza, 1/3 cup craisins 5) 2 more splenda gingerbread cookies and tea calories: 949 carbs: 117 fats: 26 protein: 64 Being at home I haven't been as hungry as at work and have also been drinking a lot of tea all day. No veggies again today...this is a problem for me. Maybe learning to love veggies should have been my new year's resolution.

Hey Molly.. I think your carbs are in a healthy range.. I wish I could get mine as high as yours but I just don't do well with them that high yet. For instance your breakfast would have me bottoming out.. there is a decent amount of carbs between the flour in the pancakes and apple and well it isn't too much for *most* people but it obviously is for me. If I do blueberries (less sugar than apple) I am fine. Go figure. I think your totals always look great, your fat is always low, protein in the "average" range for most people on OH.. carbs are where they should be for adequate "brain function". It's a good balance.. no worries my friend. I still think your cals are on the low side (don't smack me!) but you know your body better than I do.. we all know our own bodies better than everyone else, so you have to do what works for you. I don't think you would gain weight on 1200 a day though consistently unless u are still wanting to lose. I could be wrong. Hang in there, you are doing great! I love how accountable you are to your plan.. you inspire me to keep doing the same!

Have you tried making your cottage cheese pancakes with something other than wheat flour to see how it affects your sugars? You know I use 1 tab. brown rice flour and 1 tab. oat flour...I like the taste and the pancakes have a good texture that way but I have successfully done it with just either flour and 2 tab. It seems to me that if you tried the oat flour it might work better for your sugars. Maybe it'd be just enough glycemic difference that you could then occasionally change out the fruit to apple without have your sugars get out of whack. Who knows, maybe even a whole different type of flour would be better...spelt, teff, kamut....there are so many. I've got some nut. info on various flours bookmarked and I'll look them up to see if any sound drastically different and let you know. (too tired today to try to be a computer whiz) And thank you for the kind words about my totals but you have to remember that most days when I post that I still have around 2 hours left in my day and it is the worst grazing time of the day for me. I usually end up with at least another 200 calories and more carbs than the time when I post. It isn't that I'm hiding anything, I just don't come back here and make a revision to the original post to show the extra food. It does go into my sparkpeople food log, tho. Hope you are keeping warm today and staying safe in the snow. At least we aren't having extra snow here yet, it is just bitter cold. Molly

Hi Ladies...Couldn't wait to post this--I am floored by this day I had. Started out wonderful! B: Turkey and 2% cheese roll ups L: small salad w/little ranch dressing and 2% cheese Today was the anniversary of my Grandmothers death...my mom has had a really hard year- so Greg and I went to dinner with my parents.....(keep her mind on happier things) i had a "special salad" artichokes, hearts of palm & avocado- with creamy italian dressing....i only ate the good stuff out and left the regular lettuce (and italian dressing)--also had appetizer portion of "shrimp paesano"....3 shrimp.... um come to find out 3 shrimp had 675 calories, 53 Fat Grams, 31 Carbs & 19 Protein! Daily Total: 1330 Calories 94 Fat 61 Carbs & 60 Protein I know that in the olden days this would have been a lot worse....this just goes to show you ---that i thought this wasnt so bad and i know a thing or 2 about nutrition.....people eat these as appetizers and THEN eat dinner! Maybe I am just in denial- perhaps i should have known something THAT good was THAT bad for me......BUT THERE WERE ONLY 3 SHRIMP! Gonna have a stellar day today.....Hope you all have the same......

Hey Dawn.. are you sure THREE shrimp had almost 700 calories? I mean even deep fat fried, I find that hard to believe but maybe so???? If so.. relax it will be ok. I had NAS banana nut bread from Starbucks one day (a lady gave me a treat free with my drink.. normally would said NO! but was visiting mom's and mom and I split it).. ok that thing alone had 545 calories and 42 grams of fat and like over 50 carbs (11 sugars) I WANTED TO DIE THAT I ate 3/4 of that thing! But ya know what I survived and believe it or not the scale moved the following week. Maybe you need a little boost in cals to freak your body out.. just go back to being on plan now.. its ok.. You are doing terrific!
