Weight gain!!! Help
Surgery 12/8/06 at 233.6 pounds; goal to lose 130 pounds.
13 months post op and eating about 3-4 times a day. Started working out on January 5--running 45 mins on the treadmill, January 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. My weight is increasing--Jan 1 (137.2), Jan 2 (137.6), Jan 3 (137.6), Jan 4 (137.8), Jan 5 (136.8), Jan 6 (137.6), Jan 7 (137.8), Jan 8 (138.4), Jan 9 (138.6), Jan 10 (138.8), TODAY (139).
I am working out really hard, I am thinking that there are 4 possible reasons
1. I am not eating enough to offset the workouts
2. Water retention--due to the workouts and/or sodium
3. I am gaining weight for any number of reasons, my stomach is broken!
4. I messed up!! And broke my stomach!
I cannot fail at this, I think I am doing the right things. Can anyone lend some assistance?? I swear if I show weight of 140 tomorrow, I am gonna freak out!! But, I am going to workout tonight too. And I am adding a protein shake at night to try to boost up my good calories.
Finally, I weigh DAILY and track daily and I have never, in the past year, experienced this large amount of fluctuation.
Please help!
Angela
It's ok Angela.. it can be a number of things like you said.
How much are you eating? What are you eating? You are right, you may not be eating enough.. I don't think you have messed up.. what would make you think you messed up?
What activity are you doing? Give us info girlie.. let us see if we can help you.. need some data to look at! I am sure its temporary but just something you need to adjust slightly to get the scale moving in the right direction again. *hugs*
Hi all,
Thanks for the advice. I tracked my calories yesterday, ate about 1400 calories, worked out last night at the gym, although I was discouraged and when I weighed this morning, I was back at 137. I am glad that it appears to be the battery that was the problem.
I also started lifting weights last night--light weights because I just want to tone, not bulk up. I know I need to eat about 1200-1400 calories because I am burning lots of calories when I run, I dont want to starve my body because I know what that will do. I am a life-time weigh****cher so I know what happens when we fail to fuel the body.
I will keep plugging away, want to get to goal weight of 130 sooner rather than later but will take it one day at a time.

Angela,
I read the posts and really felt for what you were going through. Thank you for updating us and I'm so glad it was just a battery problem. You are such an inspiration for me...how you have gotten so much weight off and are exercising well, getting your plastics done and still tracking your foods. It is great being able to come here and share in your successes and struggles too. It makes this less of a lonely effort and feel more like a team effort.
I know you will make it to 130 and it will be so much fun to be cheering for you when you do!
Hugs!
Molly
