Good morning! It's that time of the week again so let's roll out those scales and check our progress. I've got a gain to report but I am going to get it off by next week because I know it is that 'time of the month' gain for me. In the past few days I've been weighing 128-129 so I'm excited to get through with this and get the numbers back down. HW: 268 SW: 230 LW: 130.6 CW: 131.5 Even though this is our graduation month we still have to be determined to stick to our surgeon's programs so that the coming year will be a successful one too. If you can, take a moment and go back to your surgeon's guidelines and find something from him or her to share with the group. Now that we've lived with this surgery for a year this isn't going to be anything 'new' to us but reviewing our surgeon's rules and recommitting to them won't hurt! From my surgeon something that I need to re-read and memorize: "DO NOT GRAZE. Learn to eat regular meals and avoid eating between meals. You won't feel full if you eat small snacks during the day. Your rate of weight loss will change if you are eatiing many small meals but never filling up at regular meals. You may even start to gain weight. Every calorie counts. Every fat gram counts too. Slow down and see what you are doing." Grazing is a big problem for me and I have to get control of it! What can you share from your surgeon's instructions? Molly

Hi Molly!! I left the house without weighing this morning totally slipped my mind. If this gives you any ideas on how my morning has gone, when I got to work I looked down to see one black shoe and one brown shoe. Anyways I wanted to chime in on the surgeon guidelines. Mine mentions repeatedly at meetings to be aware of everything that goes in your mouth. Even if it not a "good" choice at least think about before you do eat it. It all goes with accountability I suppose. I have recently turned into a grazer and I am consciously trying to change that. Have a good week all!! Amy

LOL! What did you do about your shoes? Hope that you had a spare pair. Thank you for the tip from your surgeon. That is very good! Maybe come January when the rest of the country is going diet-crazy we could focus our attentions here in our little group on battling grazing. Seems like a large percentage of us here are having trouble with it and we need to get our new year off to a good, healthy start. Renewing our exercise goals would be great too but I think in the long-run we must get control of the grazing to be successful. Being aware of what goes in the mouth is an important part of that. Have a good day! Molly

Only spare pair I had in the car were my daughters sparkley pink princess shoes, so I am still wearing on brown and one black. In my defense they look identical besides the color. Guess it could always be worse.

I can't not really share much from my surgeon's instruction but I love learning everything from you guys. Thanks for sharing! Grazing has become a real problem for me too and specially now during the holidays with all the gift basket full of junk lying around the office. I should stop once the holidays are over, right? My stats: SW: 320 or more LW: 187 CW: 185 My scale showed a loss of 2 lbs this morning, but knowing that scale I really doubt it, but I like that number so I will keep it.

Beatriz, you are funny! Definitely take that good number. If you can't stop grazing from that gift basket then maybe sneak some of your own snacks into it so that other people can take the 'bad' stuff and you will be able to find something that causes you less guilt. I am loving having a batch of Melissa's protein fudge around the house. It is too yummy for me to have any other time but it feels like a nice holiday treat to myself for now so i am indulging in it without guilt. (In case anybody wants the recipe again here is my version of it...you just use peanut butter instead of the soynut and use fat free cream cheese instead of the light cream cheese for her original version. I also added cocoa powder to make it more chocolatey) http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=176696 Molly

Hello, My stats are below: HW: 241 SW: 233.6 LW: 138.4 CW: 140 I am back on track with losing. I went up to 141 last week from all time low of 136 so I am really watching my eating and making sure that I keep my water intake consistent. I really would like to lose the last 10 pounds by the end of the year! My biggest advice from my nutritionist is to make sure to eat enough to fuel my body. Don't skip meals so that you are not hungry between meals. I find that I eat when I am bored. I am also a social eater and if I am in a group, I tend to pick at things that I wouldnt ordinarily eat. My problem this season will be with sweets but I do have a small reaction to too much sugar, I feel sweaty and yucky for a minute so that keeps me in line. I did well for Thanksgiving and I just need to stay focused the next few weeks through Christmas. Thank God the rest of the year does not pose a problem for me. Finally, my instructions to WORK OUT are important for me to follow as well. I have never been successful with weight loss and keeping it off without a consistent workout plan. My family and I will join the Y at the end of the year and that will jump start all of us into an exercise routine. I plan to get my son into sports at the Y and get my husband back into the gym so I feel that will help me to stay on track because it is something we will do together. Good luck to you ladies, we are nearing the end of the month and the year! Make it a great one. Angela

Angela, great job getting back to your losing. Good reminder about nearing the end of the month and year. This is no time for any of us to be slacking off just because the holidays make a convenient excuse. I will try very hard to remember that! How lucky are you that your family wants to join the gym with you?! My husband hates to work out and refuses to go to any gyms. I'm all alone in working out except for the rare occasion when my daughter visits and has time to go for a walk (this is REALLY RARE!). Have a great week! Molly
