What's in your purse?
Okay, so we went out for Mexican food today. Ordered fajitas, and let the hubby eat the majority of everything (including the tortillas). I just fixed myself an iced tea, and then ate the chicken, shrimp, steak and bell peppers out of the fajita mix, with a teaspoon of the rice.
As I was sitting there at the table, I dug in my purse for my Splenda packets, and then got the giggles. I realized I have a mini-post-op emergency kit in my purse.
Gas-X strips
Splenda
3 different Crystal Light packets (1-2 packets each)
Travel toothpaste & toothbrush
Floss
Tylenol
and one serving of Fuzzy Navel protein powder in a plastic pill container, for an emergency
1 day of vitamins
My surgeon's business card
All of the above items fit in two of the small pouch compartments in my purse (I might add I have a SMALL purse.. about 10 inches high, by 6 inches wide, it's a little backpack style).
Anyone else carry stuff like that in their purse/car? And what's in yours?
LOL!! This is so funny!!! I need to get my surgeon's business card. Yikes! But at least I have his number in my cell phone.
I always carry:
Gas-X
Carafate suspension
chewable tylenol
travel toothbrush and toothpaste
at least 2 lipsticks
floss
my day's pill pack
always some kind of protein bar
a mini tupperware of a hot drink mix (sf chai or sf instant mocha)
an herbal tea bag and a few splenda packets
'female' supplies
hand sanitizer wipes
bandaids (that's the mom in me)
I keep a diaper bag (honest, that's what it is) in my car at all times with the following:
More Gas-X
1 Isopure
1 bottle of water
1 campbells soup at hand
1 microwave bowl of stew
1 pouch of tuna
1 pouch of chicken breast
4 oz. kashi go lean
1 Kay's Naturals Parmesan Crisps pouch
several different kinds of protein bars
an extra day's worth of pills
instant hot drink mixes
several types of tea bags
lots of splenda
antibacterial wipes
plastic utensils
More 'female supplies'
Whenever I use any of this stuff I replace it right away. I know it sounds like a lot for an emergency kit but since I work on a military base there is always the possibility that I'll get stuck there in a lock-down like we all did on 9-11. Don't want to have a panic.
Yeah, I have to repack the emergency kit I keep in the Durango. I had taken it out a while back, when I went to L.A. for my aunt's funeral services, instead of having to pack a second bag.
I have beef jerky in mine, and sugar free lifesaver wintergreen mints (since I've found when I'm the passenger now, I get motion sick).. oh the joy!!
I carry a BIG purse.....i have my WeightMinder food journal - My Biggest Loser Complete Calorie Counter. Crystal Light. Hair Clips, Rubber Bands. Lipstick and Liner. Powder. (i dont carry gas -x, perhaps i should) Sugar free gum- Calculator- empty wrapper of peanuts i grabbed yesterday so i can write it down. Pen and Pencil. Wallet with my surgeons card, my dr. card, the Gastric Bypass explaination card for restaurants- CELL PHONE. I think that having the emergency kit in the car is a great idea. I always find myself out and about and hungry....it is too hard to grab something at a fast food rest that is worth anything so i usually find myself at the convenience store buying cheese sticks. BUT i do keep a stash at the office --so right now i am going to put a protien bar in my makeup bag.....you gals are so smart. The only things that i carry in the car are 2 sets of handweights (3# & 5#) and an exercise mat....i could stash some supplys in with my weights too!
hummm, it looks like I am the different one. My purse always has my wallet, my sunglasses(can't live w/o them in sunny Miami), make up case(which I almost never wear), my ipod, cell phone, metrorail pass and keys. However, my lunch box, is another complete story. I carry all that I will consume during the day at work.

You are TOO funny...Mister!
Have you looked into the messenger bags that are being sold this season. Really!
It must really be tough being the only guy here... who isn't LURKING!
I'm sitting here thinking, "I am either still a "Tom Boy" or really underprepared!"
My purse occasionally has an Atkins bar inside..and some lip gloss... besides the routine stuff. I carry a thermal bag with 3 water in the car and maybe some soy chips, if it's going to be a long ride. The Gals packs & purses have a lot of good items that I really should have thought about long ago. Time to rethink the food and emergency supply plan.
Steve... Did you go with the Dakar Noir? Good Choice...
What did you think of the Kay's snack sampler? I tasted the Nacho Chili Protein Chips and the Cinnamon Pretzels and liked BOTH. Any info to share so I stay away from any nasty tasting snacks? BTW, I tried Genisoy's lightly salted...and cheddar hearts..blah!

It's not all that tough - remember, I'm a guy. That means I can be incredibly tolerant of the female of the species.
Got the DN and also got a few of the others that I had received recommendations for. I also tried one called XY. I really like it. But, as I said before, if I like it, there's a good chance that women won't. So I only put it on when I plan on enjoying only my own company for the evening.
I haven't tried either of the two from the sampler that you mentioned. I still get psyched over barbecue flavored crunch-o's. Gimme one of them and let me wa**** down with a Snapple Mango flavored Diet Green Tea and I'm in heaven.
It's like getting a scooby snack for me - I shoot up into the air and float down like a leaf and land softly on my overly comfy bed!!! (What a visual, huh?)
I try to stay away from anything that is inclusive of the word SOY. YUCKO (the antithesis of Rachel Ray's YUMMO).
