30 mins or an hour?
I'm wondering with all of us having different surgeons and different guidelines for our programs, what is your surgeon's requirement for fluid intake pre-meal and post-meal?
Mine is 15 minutes pre-meal, and then ONE hour post-meal.
That makes it pretty hard sometimes to get in the daily liquids, without some chugging going on occasionally.
I have my one year post op on the 12th, and would like to be able to ask the PA about this requirement. So, I'm just curious what everyone else does.
Mine is 30 minutes before and after. I don't follow the 'before' guidelines though. I try to water load whenever I remember and drink as much as i can up to about 15 minutes before a meal.
It just amazes me to see that we are all hitting the one year mark this month and will be having our one-year post op appointments. Time seems to have flown!

Hey girlie.. I was told 30.30..however I find what works best for me is water loading in the true sense of the word. Drinking as much as possible for up till 15 mintues then I wait 1.5 to 2 hours after I eat to start drinking again. I get plenty of fluids in this way but I can drink pretty fast. Prolli can do 16 oz in 10 minutes if I focus hard.
Hey Heather!
I was told only to be concerned about NO fluids for 30 minutes after meals. Nothing was mentioned about before, and when I asked abou****er loading prior to meals, the clinic did not recommend this practice.
So, it's easy for me.....no drinking for 30 minutes after meals.
Take care and congrats on the anniversary!
