Hey all, hope things are well with everyone. Happy Thanksgiving also! I have always been a hot baby!! Always warm and always wearing short sleeves even in the winter. I know that losing weight causes you to lose some fat insulation and causes you to feel cold but I am cold to the point of shivering at times. It's strange though, I am 56 and do suffer from hot flashes at times. I can go from a hot flash to feeling very cold within minutes. My question is, is it normal to feel so cold to the point of shivering? It's a new experience for me so it's an odd feeling. Thanks for listening. Kathi

I do not know about going from having a hot flash to being very cold in a matter of minutes but I can tell you that after loosing 132 lbs I am much, much more sentitive to cold than before. Now my husband is very happy because I do not set the thermostat too low and even in sunny Miami I carry a sweater with me most of the time, especially at nite time. Keep warm! Bea

Hi there Kathi: I LIVE IN MINNESOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT WAS I THINKING MOVING HERE?????? Yes! I am cold all the time, perpetually....it's a standing joke between my coworkers, friends, and boyfriend and I.....I am a cold stone.....and I love my electric blanket, demand that my bf turn up the heat all the time, and I get my way because all someone has to do is touch my hands or feet to understand.....I wish tea or decaf coffee worked....but it's not a permanent fix..... I had severe shivers (teeth chattering, body shaking shivers) for the first 4 months post op....then, my body caught up and now I just "normally" shiver... Hang in there! I wish you the best with heating things up M

I am ALWAYS cold! I've been born and raised here in MN. You think I'd move, but I just couldn't do that ever. I love it here. Even tho it is cold as hell!! I'm like Megan tho...always cold, with a standing joke in the office. A long soak in a hot tub works wonders! Except then my skin dries out

Hi Kathi, I am cold all the time AT WORK! Otherwise, I am fine. Here in Texas where it is a balmy 78 degrees today, 2 days before Thanksgiving, that works for me. Make sure to get your iron checked though, if you are the only one cold. I did however, make a drastic change because I used to be hot all the time, now I can have the temperature on normal settings and no longer freeze my husband out of the house. My best friend who had WLS and then had plastics in Sept had to get iron infusions because her iron was extremely low. She had trouble getting her temperature comfortable and was also feeling out of sorts. Now she has to supplement with additional iron so be careful. I like this feeling much better than being hot all the time. Angela

Hi! Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier...whatta week! LOL Count me in on being cold too. I'm the only one at work wearing a long sleeved shirt and a sweater while we are doing heavy physical work. They all think I'm nuts. 46 here and no hot flashes yet and not looking forward to them either! I have a question for you...are you just now experiencing being so cold or did it start earlier in your post-op experience? Mine began just a week or two after surgery which I thought was really cool however odd. Like you, I'd always been hot and it was a really weird experience.

Hi. I've only been feeling cold for the past 5 or 6 months. It was strange during the summer when I am usually dying from the heat. I guess I had a lot more fat to lose! LOL! Happy Thanksgiving! Kathi
