Woman's Opinion
Steve,
Totally off topic, but you are way too cute to hide behing your newly grown facial hair,--the clean shaven look is always sexier.
As far as colognes go, be careful not to overdo it,--something a woman can smell a mile away makes it look like you are trying too hard. Sometimes a nice aftershave is all it takes if she gets close enough to you to smell it.
Generally, the armani and CK lines are yummy on guys (except CK1 is unisex and, thus may be too girly for you).
Next time I'm in a department store, I'll stop by the men scent section to see what I like (i'm in a department store a lot nowadays since all my closes keep falling off and i'm down to buying skirts in sizes 0 and 2p.
DH doesn't wear colognes because I have developed a perfume allergy over the years, sorry to say. But I do remember a few years ago smelling Drakkar Noir at a cosmetics counter because I'd read that Justin Hayward (swoon!!!!) wore it and thought it was really great.
At work I absolutely gag when the young airmen walk by and are seemingly covered head to toe in Axe. Ick!
My kids have scents but they aren't allowed to use them at home around mom and they're pretty good about it. Nice family.
