Melissa's Eats and Moves Post...
Sounds like Melissa might not be back online to do the what did ya eat and how did ya move post so I'll get it started for her and then I'm shutting down for the night. I called in sick today with a migraine so I haven't moved much beyond getting a fresh ice pack for my head or to try to make myself eat something. Oddly enough, the nausea is better if I force myself to eat. Hope that it has been a good day for you all, what did you eat? Here's what I've had:
1) herbal tea, herbal tea, herbal tea
2) 1/4 cup ff cottage cheese
3) 1/4 cup egg substitute, some sauteed zucchini, 1 strip turkey bacon
4) 1 cup cream of broccoli soup
5) 1 serving PK's pumpkin protein pie
6) 1 scoop Nectar protein in a diet cocoa
calories: 540, carbs: 38, fats: 10, protein: 71
Tomorrow my head WILL be better. I cannot call in sick, we are having a high-level inspection and my name would be permanently mud if I did. It just isn't an option. See you tomorrow and back to my chipper (overeating) self.

Ran 2 miles on the treadmill, ran .5 miles on the track, 25 mins of circuit training all body systems and 75 ab crunches. Then 15 mins of 1 on 1 basketball with my husband.
oh good lord, my booty hurts --those hilly intervals kill me on the treadmill. BUT i have to say they are worth it i have lost almost 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks. I have committed to "kicking it up" after my next appt which is October 11. But for now i wanted to start liking exercise FIRST. I had a stressful STRESSFUL day yesterday at work and all i could think about was gettin home and gettin on the treadmill- that is a BIG wow moment for me.......i would like to start incorporating some weights or bands or something.....but will wait until October 11......it is all part of a plan.....
Thanks for being my sista in exercise!
Goood GOOOOOD Job Dawn! Yes, believe me when I am stressed I look to run now.. its an awesome stress relief and an AWESOME transfer addiction, I am so proud of you. Yes, I agree, try to do some type of muscle toning/building to help your metabolic rate at rest be better. It burns more calories. Honestly I could care less if I lost another pound if I could tone up, ya know? My muscles are aching like the dickens today. Personally I hate weights and I hate being sore, I'd do cardio all the time but I know how important it is to incorporate it. Today just treadmill for me, no weights. Gotta take days of inbetween with the weights. Never two days in a row. Need time to repair. If you are gonna do that you might wanna get your cals higher though.. I swear, I lost another 11 lbs this month and I eat 1000 a day if no more some days to 1100. It is so weird. So do know there is range in there. If you are working off almost what you eat that can't be good for your body either. I don't want you to steer from your doc/nut though, just throwing my two cents in there. If I go below 800 with the amount of exercise I do, I go into starvation mode and don't lose at all. Weird eh? Gotta find what works for each of us. Now if I don't exercise I can eat less than 800 and do just fine. I'm rambling now.. have a good day and keep up the AWESOME WORK, you pump me up and keep me motivated and I love ya for it! *hugs*
I agree with the calorie thing and i have been thinking about it....but my next appt is a week from today and i will ask her what she thinks about bumping it up....I have become so fixated on eating properly now that i am exercising ......i assume that with my calculations there is a margin of error and i probably get closer to 800 calories in each day...What has really helped me ....and i dont know if this is bad or good- is the appetite suppressant. I am hoping that if nothing else it is helping me formulate better eating habits.....if i dont feel hungry......at least during the workday i dont even think about eating! Thanks for the weights advice....i will be pm'ing you next week for suggestions pertaining to weight training for beginners!
Keep up the great work! You are my hero! It takes some of us longer to jump on the bandwagon ya know!
Yeah it is just a thought, you are losing good so just be good with your protein amounts. If you are gonna continue working out at this intensity with cardio and are gonna add weights you may wanna see about getting in 90-100 proteins. My doc lets me ONLY b/c I do this. You need more cals (in my opinion) anyway plus when you work out you actually need more carbs (did I say that? ugh those buggers). I have been getting in 60-70 religiously now for a while and its working out good and I have less "brain fog". I make sure before I work out that I always eat some protein/carb combo, it helps A LOT. Usually its a protein bar of some kind. You could also do whole grain crackers and cheese or even a cup of yogurt has carbs/protein. I do this 30 mins before my workout. That way I can drink like a horse during.
I'd love to be on an appetite suppressant but I am afraid to get started back on those again and feel like I have to have them to be in control of my tool. I used to be on phenteramine (adipex, part of phen-fen, the part that didn't get pulled by the FDA) and it worked wonders. But its also a stimulant and raised my blood presure, another reason I just don't want to go there but someday I may have to, if its a matter of not putting weight back on. So far I think I am handling pretty good.. I have my days that is for sure, but don't we all? I donno.. I just take it day by day anymore..
I am so sore still from weights the other day and I am not overdoing it.. im just a weakling. I know my weight may go UP now that I am weight training but ya know what, I need to do it anyway.. I hear the scale goes up but the body's inches go down still (thus losing sizes) so being I am 7 lbs to goal, if I never made it b/c I am weight traininig, so be it, it is very necessary I feel. Our doc says not to weight train till you are at goal b/c we could get frustrated with the scale. My PA says to do it from jump street that she thinks it helps burn cals in the long run, I have done light hand weights/free weights but not circuits until now. I am already seeing results if you can believe it!
Well I better run, I have a busy day ahead of myself. Have a great day Dawn!
Hugs!
