My nine month check-up
Hi everyone,
Whew! I finally got my 9 month check-up over with, I was so nervous, because I was afraid that my labs were going to be bad, and the doctor would get on to me, but today was my lucky day! The labs haven't came back yet! Yeah! So the doctor said he would be in touch with me after he read the results, if he needed to. I had to get weighed, and it is the first time I weighed since late June, I lost another 19 pounds! Yippeeee! I could not believe it, I really felt like I was gaining this last couple of weeks, so that makes my grand total 97 pounds! And he said I lost 73% of my body fat, I still don't know for sure what that means, I must have slept thru that class, I probably did! I had sleep apnea so bad, I could not stay awake for too long, if I were bored or it got to quite, I would be a snoozin'! I can laugh about it now, I used a c-pap machine for 13 years, after it was discovered, but I know now that I had it for about 6 or 7 years before that! This surgery is great because, it has helped me with so many of my problems. I never used the sleep machine(c-pap) after I came home from having my surgery, It was one of my happiest days, when the person came to pick up my machine because I no longer needed it!
The doctor never has told me yet what he wants me to lose, he just said keep doing what I am doing. So I will try.
Thanks everyone! I really love this site, it helps me every day! Good luck to all, Leatha
Leatha,
Thats wonderful news! Just stay on top of your vitamins and supplements and learn to recognize any signs of deficiencies. Being cold all the time is a sign of iron deficiency, and there are many more signs, some subtle, some blatant. Your lab work will tell the story, don't ever stop getting your labwork done, for the rest of your life, because we have to stay on top of this due to the alterations that happened in our bodies.
I know what you mean about the c-pap machine, I never had to use one but i did have high blood pressure and with all the weight I had, I was tired all the time. Forget about me going anywhere or doing anything when it was hot outside. Well, this summer was the first time in a very long time that I actually WANTED to be up and about and doing things.
The energy I have is amazing and I have this surgery and the weight loss to thank for that. I was always hot and sweaty, my light bill was sky high, because i had to keep it very low at night in order to sleep. Now, I keep it at a decent temperature and we are fine at night.
Good luck to you and let us know how it goes when they finally come back!

Hi, Leatha! Congrats on the good check-up! Wow, 13 years on a c-pap...you deserve a medal! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad that you had WLS. The thought of 20 years of apnea is frightening. At almost 100 # lighter, you are sure to have a dream bod very soon. Hope that the labs are great. Waiting for the update.... Ro
