I'm home from my tummy tuck!!
Hey Melissa,
I am glad to be able to help my December buddies through this phase of their reconstruction too. i know we wont all need reconstructive surgery but for those of us that do, its definitely something that is worth doing, I can say that now.
i already see parts of my body that I havent seen in a while and its amazing to me. To be free of that skin and even the weight of it is a welcome relief.
I'm taking it easy though, I have my laptop and I am in the recliner, I could doze off at any minute during the process. Its funny because I will talk to my husband, fall asleep and then wake up an hour later and pick up the same conversation.
The pain meds really work for me, I make sure to take them regularly every 6 hours or so, especially for the first week or 2. I dont want to experience any pain and know when to depend on them to help me heal.
I'll talk to you soon and thanks for checking on me!
Angela
Thanks Erin,
I was about 15 pounds from goal but figured a lot of it was stomach, so I wanted to get rid of that. I dont think I want to lose too much more, just want to get to the weights and build some muscle.
I'm feeling good about it, this binder is so tight I can hardly breathe but I know its very necessary to keep the swelling down and get the contouring so I suffer thru it.
Angela
Thanks!
Yes, it was considered day surgery. It amazes me too, when I had my breast reduction in 1988, I stayed for a couple of days. then when I had my gallbladder removed, I stayed for 1 night. I guess since they do it at surgery centers, they dont require the overnight stay.
No, my sister didnt have WLS, she has always been small but in the last few years, she picked up weight and then last year she had 3 abdominal surgeries that caused her stomach to be quite large and lots of scar tissue so she wanted to get it removed and the only way was a tummy tuck.
I, on the other hand, have always been heavy, except for a few weight loss spurts here and there. But my stomach has always been a problem for me. I know I will be so shocked to see it once they remove the bandages because I have honestly never seen a flat stomach on my body.
I go to the dr on Friday for my followup and will post pictures.
