Get This...Obesity Help
Ok so this weekend i think that i may go to the ObesityHelp "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" conference. It is here in San Antonio & they sent me free tickets.......I am nervous....i always get that way --the "fat girl" mentality...i wont know anyone there, what if no one talks to me --you know that stuff....i do know i will probably learn a lot and it will be good for me.........I am thinking of forcing one of my always skinny friends to go with me...at least initially....my hubby is going to the Coast this weekend, we were planning on going together but my parents will be there so he will be ok......something tells me that the conference will be a good thing.......
Just thought i would share, I will let you know on Monday what i learned.
My husband and I went to the OH conference in Orlando that was held in May I think it was and it was great. I learned tons of stuff as did he. I think you would definitely benefit from going.
I completely understand the nobody liking/talking to me mentality. I still suffer from it when doing anything. It even kept me from going to a local in person support group, but then my husband finally said you do not need to know anyone to listen and get information to benefit your life. So I went to the meeting and I continue to go every month. One of the best things I did.
Go and enjoy yourself!!
Oh Dawn I totally understand your fears, I feel the same way. I am going on the WLS cruise in January.. gotta get on a plane by myself which I have never done and figure out the airport and all of that.. im such a baby and its the weight that has caused me never to be independent. We can do this girl! I am so glad you are going and I think you will benefit a lot from it! Awesome! Let us know how it goes! *hugs*
Dawn,
I am really excited for you! A friend and I went to the conference in Columbus, OH last year and it was good. The turnout was not large, but that made it a bit more cozy. Most people there had already had surgery, several were years out - so that was good exposure for me as someone who had not had surgery yet. The diet/eating session was really the best part - hope that will be part of the schedule.
People were really, really friendly and everyone shared stories and really bonded - I think that you will have NO problem making some good friends and feeling comfortable right away. People will talk to you. I have a feeling that your great progress will attract attention and people will want to know YOUR secrets!!!!
Cant wait to hear all about it! Have fun!
