What did ya eat today - Wednesday?
Hi All!!! I just got back from doing some errands and went the gym (yeah me!). I joined a kickboxing class that starts 9/11 and goes to 10/18 and meets for an hour on Tues and Thurs nights.. **REALLY** excited about it!!! Anyway, what did ya eat today? Here are my damages..
B: 2 mini quiches
S: Atkins PB Crunch Bar - before gym
L: 3 oz chicken breast, one half of a low fat deviled egg
S: Venti SF, decaf, nonfat iced cinnamon dolce latte from starbucks
D: Smoked Mozzerella/Artichoke Chicken Sausage with romaine salad on the side with FF italian dressing, sprinkle of "salad toppings".
S: EAS cafe caramel Shake and 1 mini bag of popcorn.
Calories: 965, fats 32, carbs 66, fiber 10 (bad bad), protein 103.
What did you eat today?
I started out great, until dinner
1. Achiev ONe
2. 1 mini quiche
3. chicken/pickle/ff cheese roll up
1/2 cup cucumbers
4. 2 Wasa Crakers
SF Jello
Here is where I got off track
5. Hand full of skinny onion rings
3 bites of a calzone
1/4 strawberry ice cream w/sprinkles
I also had 2 coffees today at 30 calories each for the cream.
Numbers would be about 950 calories, 79 carbs, 39 fat, 64 protein. These are a guess since I do not have exact numbers for the dinner fiasco.
My day started out great too and then DH started talking about this popcorn news and when he sat down with a ginormous bowl of butter popcorn it made me 'hungry' for a mini bag and then it went downhill from there.
1) frosty protien shake
2) homemade protein bar
3) 2 turkey/cheese rollups
4) small salad w/1 hardboiled egg and 1 T ff ranch dressing
5) 1 mini bag popcorn, 1/2 cup kashi go lean, 3 fortune cookies...GRAZING! UGH!!!
6) need something else...I will have 1/2 cup nonfat cottage cheese, and a small sf. jello for dinner
calories: 892, carbs: 97 (ugh!), fat: 10, protein: 90
Carbs waaaay too high and proteins too high too. Gave the kids the rest of the fortune cookies. I don't even know why I let them bother me, I read the label and the first ingredient was white wheat flour. Stoopid!!! At least it is gone and will not be returning. It was here because of a dinner party and should have just gone in the trash after. Better to waste money than my calorie budget.
Those fats have me curious...would I crave less carbs (and calories?) if I ate more fats? At our last support group meeting someone raised questions about the dangers of eating too much protein and the damage it can do to our kidneys so I am trying to watch the numbers and keep them under 100. Haven't read anything about it myself, have you?
I hear that fats are lot more filling and satisfying. I try to make mine "good fats" if I can. I do get about 30-40 a day almost always. It hasn't slowed my loss one bit. As for the protein.. As a nurse I can tell you we are taught that as long as your kidneys are functioning properly that you can do 120 grams safely in 24 hours but not to exceed that..must drink enough water to flush those babies though. Also with RNY I do know that we malabsorb protein and not carbohydrates. So I tend to to make my protein higher and my carbs lower. Always have, probably always will. So I don't mind taking in 1000 calories a day b/c I know I am not getting all those proteins. I am also bypassed 150cm so Im a medial bypass. I know I need more protein then that average proximal. I don't want to underestimate my protein so this is why I do it the way I do. This is my theory from my own research, doc is fine with it. Must be working, I am still losing 10-12 lbs a month.. crazily even on 1000 cals a day.
Extra virgon Olive Oil is a great one. Nuts have good fats if you can control your portions, more than an oz, that is hard for me. Also just making sure when you look at labels that the foods you eat in general do not have transfats in them (hydrogenated oils). Steer clear. Wendy's is transfat free.. that is why I dont mind going there in a pinch. However taco bell isn't. Just be careful. Those are health destroyers. Enough fats in your diet will keep you fuller longer.. I would say limit to 30% of calories from fats if you can. I always tend to go a bit above never fails, but I try to keep it around 30 percent of my calories I consume. it also help with the bathroom issues and prevents consitpation. So I make sure i get enough of my fats.. not too low and fiber and it has helped TREMENDOUSLY! My loss hasn't changed at all either.
Melissa, thank you so much for that information!!! I am a proximal, my doctor mostly does those it seems so maybe that is why they caution against too much protein? But by what you are saying then if I keep my fluids up good I don't have to worry so much. That is very reassuring because I'd rather go overboard on the proteins daily than on the carbs. Whew!!!!
Someone at work today saw me attempting to eat chicken with avacado on top and asked why I was having something so fatty. It was fun explaining my daily fat intake and relating my whole day to just over one donut's worth of fat grams. And that the fats in avacados are very healthy when used in moderation.
Too bad I wasn't able to eat that for lunch, it would just not go down and what little I ate came back up. But when I got home it worked for dinner. Go figure.
Hi back at ya!!
Well started out good like Amy and Molly, but dinner ate pasta!!
I have been having issue with things going down smoothly for about 2 weeks, I hope I do not have a 3rd stricture. I have thrown up quite a few times, which I know is not normal. I will monitor it and see if it gets better.

snack - moz. cheese stick and a SB Soy SF latte(no whipped cream)
lunch - 4 oz of burrito bowl(beans, ckn, guac, lettuce and salsa), 4 bites of b-day cake
