Another update....

Well today I went to see the detectives as the prosecutor suggested. The prosecutor said that if I went to see the detectives they could decide whether or not to prosecute him as an adult. I thought this seemed a little strange, but went as she suggested. She had suggested this to the group of attorneys I am working with. They thought it was a little strange too. When I went there the detective said that it was not their decision as to whether or not a juvenile was prosecuted as an adult and they are not sure why the prosecutor said that. This prosecutor is starting to get on my nerves. So, the detective did at least try to find out who his current gf is who assaulted my daughter, but her ex had given the police the wrong name. The detective even called the school she goes to and they said they have no student there by that name. So, we went back to the prosecutors office with our two witnesses. We met with a different prosecutor this time. She said that they would not go after the current gf or the other girl because it appeared more as a mutual fight, but would prosecute him because as my daughter was fighthing with the two other girls and on the ground he decided to jump in and start kicking her. She said this was clearly assault, but not enough to prosecute him as an adult. He will only be prosecuted as a juvenile. Not quite what I wanted, but it is something. The mayors office also told me to contact our state representative since he is the one who puts the bills on the floor. I called and left a message for him today. If he likes the proposals I do not even have to write a petition and get the signatures. I only need to write the bill and the state rep will take it to the floor for a vote. I sure hope this works!!!!

Yeah, Terisa! You have been so busy and gotten a lot accomplished. What a run-around the prosecutors office is giving you, sheesh! All this stuff with the girlfriend is very confusing, I don't see why they aren't going to try to go after her. Eventually her name is bound to come out and isn't she the one who started it all? Am I remembering the story incorrectly? How is Emily feeling? Send her another hug from me, please.

Yes, she is the one who started it all, but my daughter has a big mouth and an even bigger temper. You know kids gotta keep their respect so when the other girl threatened her my daughter basically said "let's go!" The gf backed down at that point. My daughter was geting ready to leave, she was about to get into the car when the gf jumped her from behind. Even though she did this and called her friends over, because my daughter was willing to fight earlier it would just not hold up well in court and she would not be found guilty. They are not going to take a case when they feel they will not win. Emily is feeling a lot better. A lot of her swelling has gone down so she looks a million times better. She is all sorts of colors especially dark purple, but it gets better everyday. She seemed a lot happier today too. She is very touched by all of the support we are getting. She is amazed at how the politicians are so responsive and willing to help. I think election time is right around the corner??

Can't believe I didn't think of this earlier...slap me! Do you have any of a homeopathic product called Arnica Gel? It REALLY helps bruising go away fast. I get mine at GNC and it is in a gel form. It comes from a plant and is in an alcohol-based gel formula usually so it absorbs into the skin quickly but you wouldn't want to use it on broken skin, just bruised. Since you have all your photos taken already maybe Emily would like to use a product like that to get her color back to normal for school. Molly

Wow Terisa, it all just seems so complicated and just an amazing amount of "thinking and planning" etc.. you are doing terrific with this for your daughter and yourself. Hoping that the representative gets on board, as this was a pack attack against Emily. Even if she said something first, that's just being a teen. If it comes down only being able to try her Ex- as a juvenille, that would be something...as he's a coward who kicked your daughter, when she could not defend herself. BULLY!
