Guys, I am looking for your best suggestions for a perfect breakfast. I am looking for high protein, low carbs options. Also, how many protein bars do you eat a day? Is two too many? Thanks Beatriz

Beatriz, I have two different kinds of breakfasts....those during the workweek and those when I am off work. My work needs are different so I start the day with a protein shake (usually at 4a.m.) and then have another light protein-type mini-meal at our first break time (9 a.m.). Some days I get really hungry and have to have a protein bar inbetween those two 'feedings' but I've been trying to get away from that lately and just increase my water intake. It usually works which must mean I'm really thirsty and just misinterpreting the hunger signals. At home I try to have an egg-type protein breakfast because those seem to get the day started better for me. The cottage cheese pancakes are yummy but maybe the syrup I add increases my carb cravings, I dunno. Melissa's crustless mini quiches are excellent for breakfast. I also love the egg substitutes made into a tiny omelette along with some veggies and a few ounces of a breakfast meat. I can't do plain eggs of any sort. There always has to be either some cheese added or a sauce like salsa. Otherwise they don't go down and stay down. Sorry...TMI? For the protein bars, some days I have two of them but that usually bumps my calories waaaay too high. But if I'm out shopping they are so easy and portable! I try not to have one every day, they taste like a candy bar to me and I never even allowed myself that much indulgence when I was at my highest weight! Molly

Molly, after reading your post I realized that I hand't a shake in days so on my way home from work I bought a can and I plan on having a shake as soon as I get up like I used to do before. I have tried the cottage cheese pancake and they were good, but I do not have time to make them weekdays so I reserve those for the weekends. This weekend I going to make a bacth of Melissa's quiches to have handy. I am going to only have 1 protein bar a day, to save calories and $$$$$$$$ Beatriz

I either have some kind of protein bar if I am in a huge hurry or I started making Melissas Mini Quiches and I really like them.

Mini Crustless Quiches 1 ham steak (2 oz) sold at walmart and 1 egg fried in some Pam on a skillet or Morning Star's sausage patty Cottage cheese pancakes Omelets Protein Shakes/Bars Oatmeal with protein powder (I like walmarts SF Maple/brown sugar..yum) Heck sometimes I just don't do breakfast for lunch.. I do lunch for breakfast.. nobody says u have to do breakfast as breakfast. I limit myself to one bar a day usually. I have done 2 in an absolute pinch where I was either very on the go or it was a better selection than what was available.. family gatherings etc.. always have 2 in my purse.. always.

Oatmeal with protein powder...BRILLIANT! I had read about this before and never got around to trying it and then just got out of the hot cereal habit once I was eating more solid foods. This sounds like an excellent thing for work breakfasts! Thank you! This board is great!!! Molly

Oh no, I can't function if I do not have breakfast for breakfast. Do you simple add the protein powder to the oatmeal? before cooking it, right? I never thought of it. Doesn't it make to thick? Beatriz

Guess what? I made the oatmeal according to the packet directions (next time I'll use the unflavoured oatmeal!) with 2/3 boiling water. It looked ok, I let it cool a little and then added the scoop of vanilla protein. That made it turn runny! I was so surprised. But I didn't want to add it to the dry oatmeal in case the boiling water would turn it to cottage cheese. Yuck. Molly

Beatriz, I usually have Melissa's quiche---i make them in advance and freeze them....this is easy to grab and go plus using egg substitutes saves on the fat for me I like also Kashi Honey Toasted Cereal 1/4 cup mixed with carb control yogurt Protein Bars (my favorite) But i cannot control them so i dont buy them any more ---i usually eat 2 per day but that right there is 30g of carb which is 2/3 of what i should be eating in a day ----sigh
