Hey, lets help each other out here a bit and post what kinds of protein bars we are using and liking. I know not everything is available all over the country locally but maybe some of us would like to hunt down different products via the internet and this would be a good time to try some new things. So here's what is in my protien bar box. (Yup, I actually have a box just for protein bars in my locked sewing room!) A new fav: Curves bars made by General Mills (grocery store) in Chocolate Peanut or Strawberries and Cream flavour. 100 cal each flavor, 5 gr. fiber. Choc. Peanut: 3.5 gr. fat, 5 gr. sugar, 2 gr. protein. Strawberries and Cream: 2 gr. fat, 6 gr. sugar, 1 gr. protein. These aren't really good protein sources obviously but they make good meal replacements for me and aren't so high in calories. Also 100 calories...Balance Bar 100 Calorie Vanilla Caramel Crisp or Peanut Butter Crisp. These are for days when I want something gooey as they have a sort of caramel layer that is really sticky. Be warned...sugar alcohols, though. 100 cal (duh), 4 gr. fat, 4 gr. sugar. The PB crisp has 4 gr. sugar alcohols and 6 gr. protein; the Vanilla Caramel has 5 gr. sugar alcohols and 5 gr. protein. I get these at the military commissary so they are prob. available at grocery stores too. From GNC: Pro Crunch Lite Cinnamon Bun. 140 calories, 4 gr. ft, 2 gr. fiber, 8 gr. sugars, 12 gr. protein. From Costco: Ka****LC bars. Comes in a three-flavour pack of Trail Mix, Honey Almond Flax and Peanut Peanut Butter. Only have two left to look at the calories but they are the same---140 cal, 4 gr. fiber, 5 gr. sugar, 7 gr. protein. From the military commissary: "Complete Nutrition Bar" made by Challenge Dairy. I stick with the Mixed Berry flavour as the chocolate flavour I tried made me dump. This one has 200 calories, 2.5 gr. fat, 3 gr. fiber, 8 gr. sugar, 17 gr. protein. It is an ugly purplish color but very filling and is so big that it has to be eaten slowly. Really helps me at work. From bariatriceating.com: BNRG Power Crunch Bars. I bought a box of Peanut Butter Fudge based on SO MANY good recommendations on the RNY mb. Should have ordered a sample first! I don't like this flavour but do like the others that I eventually did order samples of and will prob. reorder. The PBF has 195 cal, 11 gr. fat, 1 gr. fiber, 5 gr. sugar, 15 gr. protein. It really is like a wafer cookie and makes me want a cup of coffee or tea to go with it. (could be a bad thing!) But there is something 'off' about the chocolate and peanut butter flavours in my opinion. I really liked the strawberry and the cinnamon flavours though. Allright, that was very lengthy but then by now you know I am terribly wordy. What kinds of bars are you using these days? Molly

Hey Molly!! I love this post!!! I eat the Atkins PB Granola ones.. 18 carbs, 17 proteins, 1 sugar, 0 sugar alcohols and 8 fats, 4 fibers. 1.7 ounces and 210 calories.. Love this one b/c no chocolate coating nothing to melt.. actually tastes better as it gets gooey. Wonderful stats on this bar! Atkins Carmel Double Chocolate Crunch Bars, 150 cals, NINE fibers (these help in that department!!!) I wanna say 10 or 11 protein and maybe 1 sugar? Sorry I don't have them in front of me. They are like a true cookie. I love those but they are a special treat to me. Too much yum if ya know what i mean! I like the PB Power Crunch Bars actually lol. I like them frozen. I have them in my freezer but I get the vanilla peanut butter ones. Also like Oh Yeah! PB cup bars. Those have like 12 fats though, 8 carbs and I wanna say 15ish proteins (I could be wrong) and around 200 cals also. Maybe 190. Also love em frozen. I'm so phobic of foods those tend to sit in the freezer b/c of that fat content. I live off the Atkins ones tho, eat them 4-5 times a week (the PB chocolate one) This is a fun post, I look forward to seeing the replies Molly, thanks!

Ooh, you reminded me about the Atkins ones! Sam got into my protein bar box and finished those off so I didn't write them up. Today at the mall I stopped by GNC and saw they had quite a few more Atkins bars than I've seen before. Have you tried the 'Morning' line? I like the freezing idea, too! Never thought of that...it would really help keep those with the coatings from melting in the summer. Looking forward to seeing other replies too!

The morning line is delicious!! I stay away from them though because I like them so much. If I allowed it, I could eat 2 or 3 in one sitting.

I dont know about you guys....but i still have eating triggers....things that are sooo good that i find it hard to control. Unfortunately Protein Bars fall into that catagory. I have just started venturing out into the world of protein bars and i LOVE the Ka****LC Bars Trail mix (molly already put the stats up). The South Beach Peanut Butter and the South Beach Cinnamon are also good ......BUT i find them hard to control and if i could i would eat them at every meal. The South Beach have 140 calories, 5 fat, 15 carbs and 10 protein. These have the lowest carbohydrate contents that i have found....and they are really tasty be warned though I tried the chocolate and they have a peculiar taste.

Let me start with a funny protein bar story (but maybe not so funny story for me)... I was eating the South Beach diet PB protein bar - either the 100 or 140 cal. "snack" bars. So, I figured that I could try their larger meal replacement bars as breakfast. Well, I purchased the one that looked really really good... chocolate of course... and last Wed. I ate 3/4 of it for breakfast at approximately 7am. Well, mid-afternoon ...a full 7 or 8 hours later.... I started to get the chills, got a fever, had stomach pains and then spent the entire evening and night running to the bathroom (not throwing up mind you)... I was convinced that I had caught a flu bug. Absolutely convinced, so much so that I sent hubby to get chicken noodle soup, and the other supplies I would need for my condition. Well, as fast as my flu came on... it was gone. Whew - where did I pick up that buy anyway??!?!?! Then, Sunday morning I ate 1/2 of the peanut butter SB meal replacement and ran errands, went shoppping and about 5pm I was in target and started to get the same "flu" symptoms... taking me directly to the bathroom. Ugh! The flu again? Then it clicked... NO DUMMY... YOU ARE DUMPING FROM SUGAR ALCOHOLS!!!!!!!! Ha ha ha! Geeze... it was a very blonde moment! Word to the wise - NO SOUTH BEACH MEAL REPLACEMENT BARS!! (Even if you eat only half!) At any rate, my center sells protein bars that are 140 cal., 15 protein in peanut butter and almond flavor. Good, lower in calories and high in protein. I will post the name and manufacturer later today. I also use the Atkins bars, agree with Melissa the Peanut Butter Granola is the best. You can get them for a good price on Ebay - just make sure to check the expiration date in the auction. Thanks for listening to my story... hope you got a good laugh out of it... let's just say my husband really did! I am just so happy to find out that I dump becuase I have not tried sugar yet and really wondered. Let's just say it SUCKED! Rebecca

Oh Rebecca! You really suffered from those bars, wow. I've had that happen to me at work and was too sick to drive home...had to just wait it out. The sugar alcohols listed on the South Beach bars is what has made me hold off on trying them so far but they do sound yummy. Molly

I actually was going to post this same thing and then got up today and read the post....too funny I like the Detour Carmel Peanut Bars-180 calories, 6g fat, 16g carbs, 6g sugar and 15g protein. These are wonderful in the fridge. Twisted Protein bars, I just found these are Target and OMG they are GOOD!!! They have 190 calories,6g fat, 21g carbs, 13g sugar and 15g protein. Payday Pro Protein bars taste JUST like a payday and I think they are 15g Protein too. I also eat the South Beach 100 calorie Chocolate Mint Bars which have 6g protein and taste just like a girl scout cookie. After reading the post I went to Target and bought the Atkins Morning PB Crisp bars which were OK and I also got the Atkins PB granola ones to try too. Molly thanks for posting this. I need IDEAS of what others eat. I wish I liked shakes but I dont. Diana
