***Tuesday Weekly Weigh-In*** 8/28/07
Hi All! Hope everyone has been having a good week since the last weigh-in! Mine has just been way busy with being out of town and having to rush back to work, then to support group last night. It is only going to continue this week which is ok, keeps me on my toes. I have counseling tonight with my husband and house work to catch up on, tomorrow is mandatory 4 hour training at work but going out with friends for dinner and a movie afterwards, thursday meeting my husband uptown for the golf tournament he is involved with and then Friday I have to go to Rochester, MN to pick up his wedding ring that has a loose diamond. I plan on spending some time at a starbucks there reading, chilling and sipping on a SF latte though ;) My reward for the crazy week. Now that you know the details of my life.. which I am sure sounds CALM compared to those of you who have kids (how do you do it?).. lets weigh-in and see how we did this week shall we?
Question of the week: How many of you attend support groups besides logging on to OH? Do you find them helpful? What types of people do you find attending if you do? What things make it helpful or not so helpful to you? How long do you plan to attend them?

I may have to up my cals even more... I am already at 10 lbs lost for the month with a week to go. I am not complaining but it kinda worries me. My goal is only 19 lbs away.. id take 25 but that's my limit that I want on loss. I hope my body just knows when to figure it out. With the extra skin I can't imagine it lower than 140, 135 at the lowest. I am 5'5".
Answer to question of the week: I attend a local support group that is actually not held by my doctor, it is held by an OH member that is 3 years out. Most of the people that attend go to her doctor but its starting to become larger and be a lot of other doc's patients as well, which is really neat. Most are preop, newly out or really far out. The newbie stuff is hard b/c I never had the problems with getting things stuck, foamies etc that most people have had so I can't offer much in the way of advice other than measure and chew, take your time, etc. As for those farther out, I really feel I gain the most from them. Especially those that are struggling unfortunately.. it keeps it real for me, lets me know this tool isn't a "cure" (something I have never believed anyway) that it is simply a tool and can help us if we help it. The demons are easy to creep back on us.. so going and learning from them helps me to want to continue to make good choices.
So how did you do this week?
Hi Melissa, my son(only have one) started middle school last week and it has changed our schedules a bit and to top it off, I started school last nite. Things are a little hectic at home but they are very manageable. My DH will be teaching his first class this week and he is very stressed out about it, making things tense at home but we will survive.
On the support meetings topic, I have only attended one b/c I go to school on thursdays nites and that's when the meetings are held at the hospital. I rely on OH(mainly the Dec foroum) for my support and guidance.
I lost 3.5 lbs this week, only 3 more Lbs to onerderland Will try my best to loose those 3 lbs by next tuesday.

Just can't seem to get a "big" loss anymore. My exercise has been really bad lately, not enough hours in the day.
As for support groups I go to 2 diffrent ones each month. My surgeon hosts one which is great and really feel like I have learned something when I leave. The other is held by an OH leader. It is fairly new as they have only had 3 meetings. The leader is very enrgentic and I think it will end up being great with each month that passes.

no loss no gain
I have attend some support groups, but have not gone in awhile. OH really helps me alot. All the support groups are 20+ miles for me so very hard to make it with kids and all. I do want to go to this sat one that meets twice a month. I need to make an effort!!!Have a great week...Erin

I consider my 1 lb a MAJOR accomplishment considering I've not had a good eating week. I've been struggling terribly with cravings and not so successful at "ignoring" them. My plan is to do much better this week, not to beat myself up too much over it.
Support groups, I've been to one meeting. I found it to be helpful, but they meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at 6 and is an hour and a half minimum drive for me. SOOOO...I don't get to them very often since my husband doesn't get home until 3:30, there's dinner to make, etc.

I attend the monthly meetings at the hospital through our program the nut surgeons and the therapist attend each meeting i found it very helpful and it seems the ones with the best sucess are the ones that attend usually around 35-40 patients show up sometimes more. i will continue to go probably forever ... i like to see ones that are farther out they teach me the most about how to deal with the change and how to keep up what we are doing and not to fall back like some have. Every month we talk with the therapist about handling the changes with ourselves and our spouses it really is helpful and lots of the spouses come to. it has taught me alot in the way of what is going on at home and hopefully it helps cause things get kind of bad and i dont think he has changed but i think i just notice things about him more...
well have a good week all
Hi! Wow, this has been a good week for us so far...very impressive! Now that my period is over I'm back down again and back to the same-old-same-old struggle to maintain.

Answer to question: My surgeon has a once-monthly support group that I have been attending for abt. 18 months now and love it. There are a few people who have had surgeries elsewhere and even a few who have had other types of wls. It is nice to know that all are welcome and we do try to support each other. Most are the pre-ops who attend because they have to for approval reasons and the rest are post-ops like me who are anxious to hang onto our success. I plan on attending as long as they plan on offering them! You here on the mb are my daily lifeline to motivation and they are my monthly local lifeline. Couldn't do without either group, really!

one more pound better than nothing I guess but I will probably have to really get back to basics to see a big loss now.
I attend support meetings although the place where I go didn't have them over the summer regularly. I believe they had 2 but I couldn't attend on those days. They are suppose to resume to the normal schedule in sept. So I should be able to make it more.
Take care and have a good week
