An Answer for Terisa-about B-12 (plus some other stuff)
Thought it might interest everyone, but Terisa had asked me last month about the cost of the b-12 shots......i went this morning and got another....and the answer is that they dont bill my insurance at all so the out of pocket cost is .......................$10!
I cannot believe...i thought they would tell me $25 or something horrible like $50.....but this is the cheapest addiction /high i have ever been a part of i LOVE it....
I also noticed in this month of journaling that what i suspected to be true is true. I only lose weight literally 2 weeks out of the month. It is the 2 weeks before my period.......on July 17, 2007 i weighed 217.........i was at 208 on August 8, 2007 where i stayed until August 16 (today) and now i weigh 206. I lost 11 pounds this month which is great in the scheme of things- BUT i will not LIE those 2 weeks where the scale stays the same.......ARE BRUTAL!
I have to be honest in saying that i dont exercise.....i am active but i dont have a regimine to speak of ....my doctor has asked me to commit to 1 day of exercise per week.....i told her i would do 2 (at least) and i will see how this works out with everything else. I am not going to change my eating from this past 30 days still 800ish calories per day 20% carbs 40% protein and 40% fat.........i dont usually meet these numbers to the T but i do average pretty close over the course of 30 days....
so wish me luck and remind me when i am complaining about the scale not moving that it will eventually........(dont look now --but i am getting closer and closer to Onderland, dont wanna jinx it so pretend i did not mention it).....
I give my husband b12 shots and he gets 6 months worth and needles for around 10 bucks. It is cheaper NOT to run it through insurance we found out.. the copay was higher than the actual cost.. weird!
As for the losing only 2 weeks out of the month. I lose just about every week once in a while I will stall however I notice my biggest drops are the week before my period and the week after.. so about every 2 weeks I have a drop... it is weird and yes it is frustrating b/c those 2 weeks you don't move you think "is this is?" but so far it never is.. I know one day it will be but i'd like it to keep going till I make goal Good job on watching your intake.. that is awesome. 800 cals doesn't sound bad at all and I think the breakdown they gave you sounds good also.. Most nuts want more carbs than that.. i tend to disagree. I like your plan. Hang in there you are doing awesome!!
Dawn,
Thanks so much for the information. That was very thoughtful of you to remember and give me the info. I had called my surgeon and asked for a script for b-12. It was cheaper for me to pay out of pocket then to go through my insurance. I got a years supply and needles. I just give myself the injections now. It is a lot easier than I thought. It is certainly a lot better than daily sublingual.
I was on a 2 week on/off schedule too. I would lose for 2 weeks, then the next 2 weeks lose nothing. I have not lost anything for nearly a month now. I am so frustrated and disappointed. I have been working out, eating healthy and even upped my cal intake to 650 a day. I can only guess that because my body was in starvation and malnutrition mode it is holding on to what it is getting now. Hopefully soon my body will adjust and I will begin to lose soon. I have only 25 to get to my goal of 140, but it seems so far away now.
i wish you lots and lots and lots of luck...cannot wait to you get to onederland!! It is just around the corner!!!
Thanks again for the info. ~Terisa
you know now that you mention it i do remember you telling melissa that you poked yourself.....silly me......dont be frustrated about your stall...you are doing everything right and for sure that will catch up with you.......you are so close to goal...you know that those are the HARDEST to lose anyway ....
hang in there
dawn
If you weren't working out I would say A-OK to 700-800ish cals, but because you are I think your bod is just in a funk and ticked off about it. I refused to want to believe this but my friend on the RNY board works out (ok like a mad dog) and she ONLY lost when she got her cals OVER 3000, now she has to eat 3700 to MAINTAIN her goal weight. So there has to be something to the working out and bumping cals a bit. She told me that i really need to be over 1200.. she has done extensive research in this and talks to many nuts/trainers etc.. I want to believe her but 1200? it is like I am eating all day at 1000. I have been eating 950-1050 over the past two weeks and lost 7 lbs so far. Shrugs?
