Peggy, I am sorry to hear that you are struggling so much with food. Unfortunatly when we have the surgery that is only part of the process. It can help fix your body, but when it comes to your mind we have to look to other ways to fix that. Each one of us still has to struggle in one way or another every day with food. Whether we eat too much, whether we do not want to eat at all, whether we eat as a coping mechanism...etc. You are really gonna have to figure out why you are eating in the first place. Is it out of depression, anxiety, the fear of losing weight, or simply because you enjoy food. There could be lots of reasons. I feel it is extremely important for anyone who has had this surgery to seek the help of a therapist. This is not an easy journey and we go through so many changes throughout the process. No one wants you to fail. We all want you to succeed and we are so happy that you have come to this board. We all have had difficult moments here and we support each other and pick each other up. We want to do the same for you. Even if you have been eating too much lately make today a new day. Let's go one day at a time here. Today make the choice to eat only healty foods and in the appropriate amount. Let's not worry about what you ate yesterday or what you will eat tomorrow. I am going to recommened that you come to this board and like the rest of us we hold ourselves accountable to each other. It helps us get through the tough times. Come on here and each day we have a "What did you eat today" section." I would like for you to post everyday what you have eaten that day and be completly honest about it. This may be the accountability that you need to help you get back on track. Secondly I think you should seek the help of a therapist. They can be lifesavers! Please continue to come to this board and join us in the journey and we will work with you. With Prayers for strength and success ~ Terisa

Hi, Peggy...I am new to the December group also and everyone is really supportive so you have found a great "homebase" for help. You took a giant step by admitting what you're feeling...a giant step away from being obese and from being a failure. When I started eating too much, I returned to measuring my portions. Recently, I've used the calorie journal on SparkPeople.com and like it a lot. How about giving your Dr. or Nutritionist's office a call to let them know that you want to get some structure into your eating habits? It might take a burden off your shoulders, if they can help you now rather than waiting for your next appointment. They'll be thrilled to hear from you in this time of "need" and will probably give you info and contacts to help you to succeed. As for daily support, the Dec. '06 members can help you feel connected to the WLS process because everyone has "Ups" and "Downs" trying to get & stay healthy. Hope to hear back from you soon! Ro

Hi Peggy, welcome! Let me tell you that about a month ago I felt that I was going down hill with my weight loss and I found the december board to by my saviors. Coming here makes you feel accountable for what you are eating. I would suggest you start tracking your foods with fitday or sparkpeople. Trackign your foods will make realize what you are eating and you will be able to see what you are doing wrong. Give it a try, make sure you are eating enough protein, drink your water and staying away from bad carbs. Get involve with this board and you will see the difference. It happened for me. Beatriz

Peggy you are in the right place, I have picked up so many tips and have gotten so much good information here. I have lost nearly 100 lbs and have about 25 more to go. THe honeymoon phase is over for us Dec babies and now we have a tool to use to help us maintain the loss. It is very easy to go back to our old habits, I know because I can snack all day long, but I choose not too because I want to reach goal. You'll do it just keep loggin in, it really does make you feel like you are in control. Good luck!!! Erin

Hi Peggy, I'm so glad you came here to join us! Please do find an online food journal you like and start logging your food there to see your daily totals, it REALLY helps! And join us in listing your daily tallies...the good and the bad. It helps me tremendously and even though we all have our bad days none of us ever flames one another for them. This is a wonderful mb with nothing but great support. We need you and you need us! Definitely call your surgeon's office and tell them what you told us, if they are good people at all they will be thrilled to hear from you. My doctor's bariatric coordinator says that the ones who don't have long term success are the ones they stop hearing from. They'd much rather have you contact them when you are having trouble and need help than to think you joined the crowd who gave up hope and quit fighting this battle. And for sure, we have all worried about going back to bad habits. Now that our pouchies are all healed and happy they are more than willing for us to keep feeding and feeding them and we all worry about doing that. Please don't be so hard on yourself, you can do this!!! You are young and are so smart to be taking care of your health now while you still can. Get back to your basics and hang out with us here. Hugs! Molly
