Longer Arms, Anyone???
My daughter came by today on her way to spin class and I had to model some pants that I just bought for her approval. (wish I could go with her but I think it would kill me today) But... Size SIX, oh my gosh! Dressy pants too, not 'relaxed fit' mom jeans. Woohoo!!!
But anyway, it got me interested in trying on clothes and showing things to her so I grabbed out a dust-covered garment bag that I had moved back into my closet after surgery earlier. It contains things that I haven't worn since I got married, or sewed and was going to diet into 'someday'.
Everything was too big! This means that my body is actually leaner than when I was thin. Totally shocks me. And the really sad thing is that this is early 80's stuff so with my now-wider shoulders it looks like Michael Jackson's wardrobe. Shoulder pads can be removed but I don't know if it will help and make these usable clothes.
And all of the garments have sleeves too short. WTH??? When your shoulders get wider do your arms get longer or do your arms get longer when you get older or do they get longer when you lose weight???? (The shoulders have probably gotten wider from my very physical job over the last 7 years, I have really killer upper body strength for a woman who doesn't go to a gym.)
Have you EVER heard of this? I haven't! I'm going to cross post this over on the bypass board because there are people who work in the garment industry who might know too but I wondered if anybody here has longer arms now?
That could very well be! It is just the weirdest thing to try on a garment that always had the sleeve**** in the middle of my hands and then have them not even go to my wrist bones! On me, that's a good four inches. And my shoulders actually look bony to my eyes, not muscle-y. Well, we all know a thing or two here about how our eyes decieve us don't we! LOL
